If it came to down to him and Insigne for the last forward spot, then he deservedly got dropped. Insigne was in hot form this past season.

Rossi had to have been struggling with his fitness to miss out.

Rossi had a couple of games under his belt though, with the world cup still being over 10 days away.. And even out of form he's as good as Insigne in form (in his last couple of games after injury he scored nearly as much as Insigne all season)

The only advantage Insigne has is that he can play wide, but I think we're shoehorned in for 4-3-1-2

I'm annoyed that Aquilani (for Monty) AND Parolo (for Rômulo/Maggio) can go to a World Cup, while Pepito can't ...

but the truth is, it's not a technical decision ... Prandelli waited for the players' physical analysis after the friendly, and Rossi did not show the level of recovery expected/required ... it didn't happen for him, it's sad, but at least it's not injustice ...

While I wish those two had picked the US, and without them being spotted by European scouts they would have started out in MLS and likely represented the USA, I do understand it as they are immigrants. Rossi was born in New Jersey.
