The "Bad Artist, No Cookie" Problem - A Solution

Ok,

I am amazed that no one on here has spotted this.

When the demo was first released there was a lot of problems bein able to access the file due to congestion on the EA site.

A mirror site popped up to which many people were kindly directed to by somebody on this forum, myself included.

I cannot remember the name of the website that we were directed to, but I do remember that the site was Russian, with a large icon to download the demo.

After the demo file downloaded, I installed it. On startup I was presented with the red screen and the "Bad Artist, No Cookie" logo. The players were all rainbow colours as well.

Look at it this way, this was my first thought:

Bad Artist, No cookie = Rainbow players = HACKED DEMO

It made sense. You can see the link between the two.

So I uninstalled the demo, waited till later that evening and then downloaded the demo again from the official site.

Guess what? Proper EA legal screen and no mention of Bad Artisit, No Cookie and no Rainbow colour players.

This is only my experience. I may be totally wrong, but I would suggest that it is worth a try before messing with gfx card drivers etc.

i download the file from kazaa, instaled and try to play the demo. when i start the exe file the bad artist no cokkie appeard, then i think it was a virus and reset my pc, i try to uninstal the demo and ican't , when i click the uninstal icon i see a strange chracters (maybe russian). then i download the demo from sweetpatch. i have instaled again, but the problem was the same, but now i can uninstal and dont have the strange characters. i can play the demo now but the the bad artist no cokkie and the rainbow color appears.
the day after a virus try to wrote one of my drives. i don't no if this is only a coincidence?

Download from there
This link is an offical download. I've not finnished downloaded it yet some I can't tell you if it works correctly.
Link is from the Australian Easports website so it may be slow for some people. I've tryed the American easports web site but its down at the moment, so when its back up for the slow connection people try that one.

I'll let you know how it goes. :rockman:

I cant comment on your personal experience, but I would suggest that there are now mirrors of mirrors of mirrors, etc., that are all possibly carrying a "bogus" version of the demo.

My advice would be to download the demo only from the EA site and not any of the mirrors.

It worked for me.

i downloaded my copy of the demo from the official site, and i don't have the "bad artist no cookie" thing, but i do have rainbow kits. i'm unsure that simply downloading the file again is going to fix the problem.:(

I'm sorry but this is not a correct experience because ý downlaod the demo in a internatcafe and the same file works well with some new pcs but did not work with old pcs (rainbow of course) so the problem is related with only the system properties of your pc.

Dave,

As I said, I cannot comment on other peoples problems.

I am only stating that I had the rainbow problem and the Bad Artist, No Cookie deal, and downloading from the EA site fixed both of them.

In your case this does not appear to be the problem, as you have the EA download.

Hagi,

Read the post correctly and understand what it is saying before telling me I am wrong.

The fixing of the rainbow problem may be down to the condition of the PC, but I am mainly concerned about the Bad Artisit, No Cookie" message which only appears in non EA downloads.

This means that the file on some of the mirror sites MUST have been tampered with.

I am only stating that the rainbow problem ALSO went away when I downloaded the EA version. This MAY not be the case for everyone else, as I pointed out in my first post!

Nope, i downloaded from EA servers, and i get the rainbow colors in my Pentium 3 pc with Nvidia TNT.

On my Amd xp with GF3, it works fine.

OMG!

READ THE POST CORRECTLY...........

RAINBOW COLOURS MAY NOT GO AWAY BY DOWNLOADING THE EA VERSION.........It did for me though. THEN YOU NEED TO LOOK AT THE PC IF THIS DOES NOT FIX IT.

THE MESSAGE "BAD ARTIST, NO COOKIE" DOES NOT APPEAR ON THE OFFICIAL EA DOWNLOAD. THIS MEANS THAT THE FILE HAS MOST PROBABLY BEEN TAMPERED WITH.

Now I remember why I decided not to post messages on this board a year ago! Too flaming frustrating!!!!

Don't work

I doens't work. I've just donwloaded the demo from the Australian EA site, and I've still got the bad cookie message and flash rainbow shirts. I hate this. I've got a Matrox G400 and this card should be supported by the demo !!! I don't know what it is, but I don't dig it.

Man, RELAx !:)

You did your best to share your experience with us !

But hey, I really hate the prob. I hope EA comes with a patch or at least an official statement on the problem. We ned to know if it's our comp., our card or it's just a bad version of the demo. And people have to know whether the prob will be fixed in the final version or not. I think you're pretty ****ed up when you buy such an expensive (well sort of) game, and it appears not to work.

Ok but ý don't understand why you are so angry ý said only my experience as you so here is a forum may be there are a lot of people who don't want to waste their time by donloading the demo again.

Thanks for the info.
Unfortunately, I still get both the bad artist and color problem after downloading from over three sites including the official ea site.
I do have one of those crappy intel 810e chipsets though,
but I still don't understand the bad artist thing,
there are more conventional ways of telling that the graphics card is not compatible with the game?!?

what the

when the hell is going on!!
ea sports should tell people about this as the demo, could be a virus or a bug etc.

i have the the same red screen bad data crap too and people come up on the bottom of the screen.

and when i play coloured kits appear too!!!!

dam hackers cant stop wreaking stuff for people!!!!

i think its an anti ea sports crew trying to mess up their bussiness!!!!!

:f***:

the 'bad artist no cookie' screen went away when i installed the demo raptor. i still have the rainbow kits on my p3 with tnt2 though. so thats definitely a hardware issue cos its fine on amdxp 1600 with 64mb geforce2.

why release a game when it's not as good as it could be?

EA has once again released a soccer game with many of the same problems as last years version. They are even aware of these problems. Do they realize that with the competition of PES2 they will never survive with the effort they have been showing. What is the point of putting a game out that is going to need revision anyhow ? gamers unlike you creaters wait each year for a game and expect it to be good, you lose customers each year as you fail to create a NCAA 2003 caliber game for the Soccer gaming fans. It is a waste of your time, and eventually we will also stop wasting out money on your games. Take the time and fix the problems, speak to the gamers and you'd have a great game, the problems are blaringly obvious.
