The BIG debate: What should Rio Do?

Silver_Boots

Senior Squad
In the next couple of days England Defender Rio Ferdinand will have to decide his future, wether its with Leeds United or Man.United. Man.utd are willing to pay anything in order to get the worldclass defender but Leeds desperately dont want to lose thier captain. So what should Rio do? Stay at Leeds where he'll help improve a young team into world betters and go down in history as one of Leed's great captains? Or go to Man.utd where he may improve and win many trophies and be more recognized around the world?

What do you guys think? Lets start the debate!

rio's move

i think rio should move to man u. he can become a man u legend like becks, giggs, cantona, scholes, best, charlton etc. he is still young though, so he could move later on, but man u r keen to strengthen the squad and to gain some much wanted silverware and rio sure could strengthen the defence.

Well this is his big chance, if he doesn't go now United will buy another defender and forget about Rio as they have already stated.

If I was him I’d move for my own good to a team that has one of the best reputations in the world, well I’d rather play for a team with a good reputation than a team that are regularly branded as being thugs. Manchester United also have a lot more ambition than Leeds and a trophy cabinet that shows.

Today’s papers are quoting Rio as saying he's out of there, but I only believe when i see the press conference

I think he should definitely join Man Utd, I think he will join United and I HOPE he joins United!

I just hope Man U buy somebody soon. Rio would be a great signing but there are loads more players we can buy, we havnt spent any money on any players yet, and we havnt even put a bid in for rio yet. What the **** are they doing, just get some good Defenders!!!!
I think Rio is a great player, but dont expect him to play his best if he sgns for United. He is still young like Wes Brown and has a lot to do to improve.
What a future partnership that would be, Rio Ferdinand and Wes Brown for England and Man U.

this is what his mentor says.........

Rio Ferdinand is moving ever closer to joining Manchester United, according to his former mentor.

The England defender has been talking to his former West Ham boss Harry Redknapp, who in turn told Sky Sports News: "I get a feeling that he may just sway towards Man United. I think if he wants to further his career and play on the biggest stage, I think that's the place to play."

Redknapp added: "It is a dilemma, but it's not a bad situation to be in - you're choosing between two of the best teams in the country. I think most players would love to be in that position."

The former Hammers manager first met Rio when he was a teenager, and the two have remained in touch since breaking their links with the East London club.

"I met Rio yesterday and we had a cup of tea and had a chat," revealed Redknapp.

"He's such a fantastic young fella, he really is. He hasn't changed one little bit since he first came into my office as a 14-year-old."

Come to ManUtd. Rio !! This is ur chance!

Yeah, but that's what Ridsdale thinks the fans want to hear, remember we've had all this with Stam years back. (PSV president said they wouldn't sell) and Last year with Ruud! The fact is it's United against the world, no clubs' chairman/president wants to be the one to announce their players going to a club that is universally despised (just look at this forum!), especially before we put in a bid. (What worries me is that we haven't)
Also the press tend to jump on United transfer news more frequently and therefore cause clubs dealing with us to make a big deal of it. I read in the Star that we are signing Patrick Kluivert (yeah, just like last year, the year before, and the year before that!) Also sections of the Press seem to be trying to encourage clubs to hi-Carlos the deal, like Arsenal, Juventus etc. Remember we were 99% certain (according to the press) of getting Campbell last season. I won't believe Ridsdale until he puts his money where his mouth is and refuses a big money bid from United.
