Can we have a discussion on various angles and wrestlers during the Attitude era, I've spent a decent part of the day watching old wrestling clips. First observation, Kurt Angle's debut year was amazing, has there ever been a wrestler that successful in their rookie year of wrestling?

Maybe Del Rio's first year in WWE, but he had a lot of seasoning on him from years in CMLL. Angle was impressive right out of the gate though, the "3 I's" stuff is among the most memorable in wrestling.

I know of Del Rio but I haven't seen much of him, I've also heard that he's basically DiBiase / Tiger Singh redux. Apart from the Royal Rumble win was his rookie year than much more impressive?

He's in the same vein as DeBiase and Singh, yeah. Slightly modernized. Ricardo Rodriguez helped him a lot, RR got such great heat. It was a pretty impressive year, especially considering how many guys they've tried to give a big push to who've fallen by the wayside in recent years.

Next to The Rock and Jericho, I don't think anyone in that era could do but heel and babyface work as good as Angle. Triple H as a face was only good until he became a main event guy, I remember seeing him as a face in 2002 and it annoyed me.

HBK could do it, Edge as well to an extent, though Edge was much better as a heel. Punk, maybe, but I don't really like Punk as a face.

It's hard to be a babyface, especially today. It's easy to make someone hate you (though it's very difficult to be THE heel) but it's hard to make hoards of people like you. Sting is a really, really good face.

Check out Kazuchika Okada if you get a chance, he's really over in Japan right now.

HBK is a great call! I agree with you about it being easier to be a heel, being a babyface only works with the right amount of charisma otherwise the schtick will appear contrived and corny. A perfect example is the Rocky Maivia gimmick.

This is true.

Back in HS, my friend was a huge Goldberg fan and had told me about all the times he had seen him in our local grocery store. One day me and my friend are walking back to our car in the parking lot and there he was. Goldberg live and in full effect getting off his truck with his wife. My friend says "Hey, what's up Goldberg...you're the best, man!" and I say something like "Yo Goldberg!" and throw up the peace sign. Goldberg looks in our direction, acknowledges us with a hand and head gestures and says some kind words to my friend along the lines of "thanks for the support". I believe he had just left pro-wrestling at the time and was dealing with some sort of back injury IIRC.

Are you guys sure Summer Rae isn't a porn star? Summer Ray sure sounds like one.
