I hate to see these stupid goals, that only the computer can make: they curl the ball out of range of your goalie (even if you have Oliver Khan on goal) into the goal. If you try a shot like that, it always ends up in the hands of the other keeper, or he punches it clear.
Another thing I hate is that the computer always heads the ball, and my players almost never. My players always try a volley, and only sometimes they head the ball.
If you've got the same problems, or the solution to them, respond.

Get a game play patch

EA sports games will always cheat a little bit..but anyways...what you need to get is a good game play patch. I suggest Nick Clubman's v1.36beta. That cuts down on the ridiculous shots by the computer team...and makes a lot of changes in ball physics and game tactics and speeds. the cheat is good in a way so the game is harder to play but scoring from that range that oftem is completly rediculus

if they have to score goals like that they should be from the edge of the area

Hey! I DO hate computer cheating like that, and isn't only to see it shoot from far away and magicaly score. It's that the computer team frequently makes a goal every time it decides it, i mean, if it wants to make a goal, it´s done no matter what you do!!!!! IT MAKES ME SO ANGRYYYY!!!!!! And the golakeepers are supermans!!!

BUT in the other side, i think you can solve it learning a little about the game, using some defensive tactics, modifying your team arrangement so and so. I use to begin matches in Very agressive attack mode, when i score my first goal, i go way back to my own area and defend, i can get some counterstrikes from there, then, when i score my second one, i go forward again. Usualy works.

I have some ways to get some headers. I dont know if pressing some "Secundary" keys while the ball is in the air really helps my player to get that header, or if it only helps my timing pressing the "main" keys. This is what i do: While the ball is in the air i press Q, keep it pressed and then the D or S or A, depending on the pass or shot. _Using E to receive the ball is good to, it somehow helps you gain possesion of the ball when your running toward it in very close situations.

I hope this help! Sorry for the long message, but i think it worths it. OH, another thing! we have a long time to learn the secrets and to refine our game, if fifa2002 would be completely fair, it would be bored because we would beat the computer sooo easyly in some months. Like it happened to me with fifa 2001. I played it for a year and at the end i was ALWAYS world champion with the smaller national teams (something like IRAK)

Patch sucks, thanks anyway

OK, thanks for all your help. I tried the patch mutiger told me about, but it doesn't only change the direction of the ball and stuff, but it also makes the referee very harsh. You get a yellow card for every time they get a free kick. So I had to deinstall the patch, because I am a very rough player.
