well the game is going as planned

Hayden and Ponting both with centuries

currently 1/282

Hayden on his way to his double ton

BTW Dhruv is it true that there was fires and riots at the ground when the windies won? thats what I heard on BBC radio they stoped the game for 10mins - things dont look good for India and the WC if they lose the OD series at home

2-364 hey, so where are all u english fans that only yesterday were so confident about your chances of the series?
I couldnt believe the rate they were scoring at, 50 partnership Hayden/Ponting in 48 minutes off 60 balls, ML Hayden 100 in 194 minutes off 126 balls, Australia 150 in 159 minutes off 33.1 overs and ML Hayden 150 in 291 minutes off 204 balls
in a test!

Anyway, its not over yet, one day of a test match is way to easy to start judging, maybe its a really good batting pitch, but if thats the case, it begs the question, why did England WIN the toss, and send us in to bat?

Im keen to see how many Hayden will score, and also how the aussies go with the ball. See how good the conditions really are for batting ;)

Cheers

typical Aussies tactics, just blast the ball to all parts of the ground, but this tactic of yours will one day backfire, I think having a fearsome reputation helps an awful lot.

As for the wicket, all the cricket pundits were saying over here that if England won the toss then they should bat first, taking into account the nature of the wicket and the history. But no Nasser stupidly elects to bowl first.

Before the series he picks a squad where only 9 players are fully fit, now we are relying on youngsters to replace the injured.
Flintoff, Gough, Jones, Harmison. We only have Giles, White, Caddick, Hoggard and Tudor left as test bowlers. Any more bowlers called up from the academy will be totally untried.
Only Caddick, Giles and Hoggard are what you'd call world class bowlers and none of those compare to Australia's bowlers.

We gonna lose 0-5. This series has been an absolute disaster. I could do better single handedly against Australia, and I'm crap at cricket:crazyboy: :f***: :kader:

sKlp_E, you were saying another 4 days left or something, well this game will be over on day 3 at the latest.

Jones (ENG) out for AT LEAST 6 months with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee!

England down to 10 men for this test match (the 12th man can't bat!)

CAN ENGLAND WIN THE ASHES?! I think you'll agree that on the way England played yesterday... the answer is a resounding 'NO' and that the only thing England will be lucky to win again this summer will be a toss!!! :rockman:

I'm predicting Australia will bat 'til the end of day 4, then bowl England out twice in 1 day and win by an innings and about 800 runs! :crazyboy: :kader: :rockman:

Vaughan was looking mighty fine for England, but then just tried to go that little bit too fast against the worlds best bowler ;)

England are fighting back a little though, itll be interesting to see how they hold out, esp towards the end a bit when Warne starts bowling.

Englands only chance is to bat atleast til the end of day 3 or start of day 4 pass the bat again total of 292 and then when Australia bat bowl defensively and then bat defensively on the last day.

writing off india , zimbabwe and west indies .... u have seriously got to be joking.... india has the best batting line up for one-day , though the bowling is not really up to the mark but indias batting can win them matches easily...
as far as zimbabwe and west indies , they are mediocre teams but they can upset the BIG teams esp. zimbabwe... and putting england in super sixes...oh please come on...u can do better than that.

Im a huge Zimbabwe fan and I know they wont make anything of this cup. ZCU increased the manditory black players to six, that means they have to play six africans in every squad which is fine but currently they dont have enough black players and this will be a short term problem - really I can only name four africans with any talent - Hondo, Matabandzo, Olonga, Mbangwa now if you notice they are all in the same position (fast bowlers) and with Heath Streak, Trevor Friend, Brian Murphy, Paul Strang, Brian Strang, etc... where will you fit them????

India always struggle in South Africa - same as West Indies, the only hope for India will be Tendulkar and Shewag as always... England play okay there better then those two...

remember WI wont have Brian Lara and probably a few others too.

mate you are more optimistic than me about New Zealands chances. We are in the middle of a pay dispute between the players and the Cricket Board at the moment. I dunno if we can take on India even playing in South Africa. And even England could probably beat us. And New Zeland teams always get food poisoning in South Africa.

well...

India beat England In England

an as far as dependency on tendulkar and sehwag is concerned ,i think u are underestimating guys like Dravid, Kaif , Yuvraj and Ganguly....

remember WI wont have Brian Lara and probably a few others too. [/B]

didn't they win agaisnt india without him ?

if u are gonna take up the case of pitches in sri lanka and england, mind you that the sri lankan pitches have a high moisture content and the humidity is very high (ask gibbs !)

and indian pitches are relatively dry
and england pitches... doesn't matter;)

point is that no side apart from australia has a lethal attack...so everybody has an equal chance..even zimbabwe

158 for 1, not bad considering our fortune has been preety dire and we're up against the best attack in the world in their own back yard.

Another 134 needed to avoid the follow on, but if we are to have even a realistic chance of frawing we have to reach at the very least 350, but probably 400+ is what we really need.

that kinda attitude gives England a pretty good chance, and Gillespie is struggling so u might also be down to 10 men as well.

158 for 1 (2 in reality coz of Jones can't bat) in reply to Australia's 492 all out (but Gillespie might also be out) after Day 2.

With a bit of luck we'll see out a draw.

4-1 last time round was a little misleading. England certainly didn't deserve to lose 4-1, but Australia did deserve to win 5-0
(kinda saying that England tried as they might were on 4 occasions powerless to stop a rampant Australia.)

This time though England will offer more resistance.

Its only a pulled muscle sprain thats why Waugh left him out there so he could bowl first in the morning - if he went off like in the last hour he would have to spend the first hour without being able to bowl (well not allowed anyway) - so really he is fine he just wasnt able to bowl and risk his small injury also this is 3rd day on the first test not much can be writtern in stone just yet
