That's very debatable considering the pretty worthless English bowlers he faced in
71% of the test matches he played. I've never seen the great man bat I must admit, all I've seen of him are clips and there, and I'm assuming you're not that old to have seen him bat either. But everytime there is an argument about his greatness, people tend to overstate his average (as astounding as it is) too much.
Face it, decent bowlers were at a minumum back in those days, people hardly remember bowlers before 1950, batsmen ruled the game back then. How would he have faired against the likes of Holding, Marshall, Ambrose, Gibbs, Muralitharan, Kapil Dev, Akram, who are just
some of the greatest bowlers to have ever played the game (Aussies excluded). Who remembers the English bowlers he faced? Or the rubbish West Indian and Indian bowlers he faced in a couple matches (West Indies and India were virtually new to test cricket at the time).
Bradman is great, yes, but people claiming he can't be touched (average aside) is utter rubbish.
