Finally got to see this movie and I REALLY liked it. Such a cool, awesome and enjoyable movie to watch. Carlos was just superb, seeing him back to his best brought a tear to my eye, totally stole the movie. DiCaprio was really good too, he's often tried playing at being a tough guy, but he really pulled it off here for the first time, and Wahlberg is awesome too, second best thing after Carlos. Baldwin and Sheen were both fine, but the disappointments were Ray Winstone, who was good but really didnt suit the part, and Matt Damon who was just horribly bad, an awful performance in a role for which he was not suited at all.

*spoilers part*

Despite being long, the movie was totally engrossing and a fantastic watch. It suffered significantly when Carlos died and it perhaps wasnt necessary for it to go on so long afterward, but even this section was still very good. The complicated plot was easy to follow and totally believable, really well scripted with some fantastic scenes and outstanding lines of dialogue. It wasnt a perfect movie, as I said before Damon was a let down, plus there were areas of the plot which I didnt like, such as all that surrounded the psychiatrist lady, which were unnecessary and also stupidly coincidential, but it is still very very enjoyable and an absolute must see.

And did I mention Carlos IS ABSOLUTELY ******* AWESOME

EDIT: Just read that Brad Pitt was originally supposed to play Sullivan - what a shame he dropped out as he would have been sooooo much better. What's with great directors letting these morons ruin their films? Hartnett nearly ruined Black Dahlia, and Damon nearly ruins this.

watched this last night, ****in amazing (Y) the ending was a bit all over the place but it wasn't too hard to follow. Carlos and Leo were outstanding, Wahlberg didn't have the biggest role but he did great, but Matt Damon was a bit iffy in his role. plus that Irish guy in Costello's crew was (H)(H)

SPOILER WARNING

one question though, what was in that envelope that DiCaprio gave to the lady?

Aids?

This is all based around Infernal Affairs, right? Without the duff prequels? Does it maintain Infernal Affair's tension and swiftness?

I just assume that it was a copy of that CD, or some other evidence that would incriminate Sullivan, along with instructions of how to use it.

Is the guy in Costello's crew you mean Ray Winstone? I am a big fan of his, but thought he was miscast in this movie.

Winstone and Hoskins are both best when given roles which absolutely suit them. Hoskins is immense in The Long Good Friday and Mona Lisa, and Winstone is top notch in The Proposition and Sexy Beast. Michael Caine is the only guy that can take a cockney accent and make it work in any role.

he was just pure comic relief, I really liked him for some reason :p
Well I did laugh when he butchered his wife, but I probably shouldn't have :p
