First thing, Hans, you need to calm down with insulting Wes Brown. He's refound his form and is currently our best defender. If you're willing to blast him for every mistake he made then you've got to give credit to him now that he's performing well.
As for this game. Man City are kidding themselves if they think that 4-1 is a fair reflection of the game. Maybe 4-1 is more enjoyable when you weren't the better team? Like when we pasted you in the FA Cup with 10 men after Gary Neville got sent of for nutting McManaman, in a style similar to the one which involved Distin nutting Nicky Butt today. (or yesterday now)
Which brings me to my first point. The referee wasn't bad today but that was a poor decision. It was very much like the McManaman-Neville incident. In that the players got tangled, Distin had a shifty kick at Butt, Distin went to hit him over the head in a Keown on Ruud fashion, and then the pair put their heads close together and Distin headbutted Butt. Butt probably deserved his yellow for his involvement in it, but the fact that Distin wasn't shown his marching orders was an injustice.
The only other bad refereeing decision was Scholes' booking after McManaman's blatent dive.
Right, to the real action. We were the better team for 75mins. First half it was one way traffic. How we didn't equalise or take the lead is mystery to me. Ronaldo hitting the woodwork. There were a few occasions where we just needed a toe, or anything, to turn in a ball going accross the face of the City goal. Then Scholes turned up and made it 2-1 and Keegan would've said that 'There's only one team in it now...', if he was still commentating.
Into the 2nd half and it wasn't as one way as the first half, but realistically it seemed more a matter of when rather than if United would equalise for at least the first 15mins of it. But our creativity started to wane. Ronaldo tired, and Giggs started doing nothing.
Then along came the error which ended the game. On one of City's hoof it clear plays (which were common throughout most of the game), it looked like a standard play by Silvestre but he missed the ball. The ball rolled nicely for Sinclair and it would've been harder to miss that to score.
After then it City seemed pretty much in control. We had to poor players forward which left our shakey defense more prone to counter attacks and thus it proved for Wright-Phillips' goal
Wright-Phillips' goal was a good one though. He's a player that will go far imo. It happens to be goal of the weekend on BBC (deservedly)... how many times has goal of the weekend been scored against us since mid-january?
