AEK today visited Constantinople to commemorate the 80 years since its incorporation.

The team was originally based in Constantinople prior to the exchange of nations in 1922-24

Today in commemoration AEK and Galatasaray will participate in a friendly match.

Man, those Panathinaikos fans just had to be the ones to prove that the state of Greek soccer violence is not getting any better. What exactly happened? I only saw some highlights of the rioting.

Another great performance by AEK.
A convincing 4-1 win over Kallithea... and AEK are at the top of the table.
Dissapointment for the two heavyweights this week... Olympiakos (draw) and Panathinaikos (loss).

So far this season has started off highly competetive... no results are guaranteed.

Having AEK, Xanthi and Halkidona in the top 3 after 4 weeks...

... it's interesting, but I don't think their success will last long. It's only a matter of time before Olympiakos and Panathinaikos wake up.

yes... i think it's good for greek football to have some of the smaller teams achieve some success...
especially Kerkyra... they beat PAO 2-0... that's huge for them, and it's their first time in the protathlima.
we know the red and the green will be there in the end, it's still early, but like you said, it's competitive and it makes it interesting and entertaining...
especially when AEK is at the top. :)

good work for by AEK especially after the embarassing loss in St.Petersburgh.

Greek teams need to wake up in Europe and follow PAO's lead while PAO needs to wake up in Greece and follow AEK's lead.

really pleased that no episodes of hooliganism were carried out this past weekend.

Anyways AEK are doing great so far in the greek league. Hope this form continues.

I'll tell you how PAO lost...too many romanians on the team that are sitting on the bench doing nothing.

This past week was a nightmare for all the big teams except AEK. a team that lost 5-1 to Zenit.

Anyway looking ahead a little....this coming week looks like the week of derbies.....

Aris- AEK
PAO-Panionios
OSFP- PAOK
Skoda Xanthi-Egaleo
Ergotelis-Halkidona

there was no hooliganism this past week lets hope it continues this way next week.

all three of these games are huge for all teams involved. I love the drama that is unfolding here.

Its not just PAO, OSFP AEK and PAOk any more.

Chalkidona wants to maintain its standing and will only do it with a win this week against a seemingly harmless Ergotelis(last place) ....but a week ago Kerkyra was only 1point better than last place and beat PAO

Aris AEK:o
OSFP-PAOk a huge game and very heated as PAOk beat OSFP last year
Xanthi-Egaleo---huge game
PAO Panionios ...also a very heated game as Panionios split last years contests:p ....I cant wait till next week!!!!!.....This is year is the first time since 2000 (PAO-in CL) that I have been so excited!
