Leverkusen vs. Atletico is fucking ugly. Never seen so many long balls in my life. Think I'm spoiled by watching Bayern play.

It's crazy, but Torres is dangerous again. Like nearly the same guy that left Liverpool.

I think he's still far from that.

Not because of the penalty, but I've never really liked Kiessling.

Torres has some good moments here and there but still far from Loverpool form. Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid next, I hope.

Ever since the 2012 CL Final when Bayern took a bunch of weak dick penalties and Chelsea hammered all of them into the top corner, I've never understood why anyone would try to "out think" the keeper. Just fucking crush the ball into the side of the net. Some really bad penalties today. And I'm worried because Muller, Bayern's PK guy, outguesses the keeper with a pass to the opposite side every time. It's actually what I did as a player too, but I just don't think it's as effective, especially against professional keepers, as the hard shot to the corner.

I've also had a bug up my ass for several years about attacking players being huge pussies in these situations and letting defenders take the penalties. If I'm a striker/AM/goal scoring winger, there's no way I'm letting Gonzalo Castro or Omer Toprak take one of the penalties ahead of me.

I'm thinking about the alternative, another high chance way of scoring penalties, and that is smashing them hard and low in the corner. But I'm guessing that the high powerful shots are easier. Sure they can go over the net but the low ones can go out and it's easier for the goalie.

It's been scientifically proven that a well taken penalty to the upper corners of the goal are unstoppable for a keeper. Well taken is a pretty big circumstancial point though.

first ever penalty win in the Champions League era for Spanish teams? guess I shouldn't be that surprised, but it still seems pretty crazy ... funny that it finally happened against a German team ...
