Judging by Pep's thoughts in the Herr Pep book, I'd say Lahm was a successful experiment, he said many times that if they were to win anything that season, that change might have a lot to do with it. I don't know what changed in the next 2 years. Maybe he changed his mind or maybe it's because he got better players on that spot than in the first season (Xabi, Vidal, and Thiago slightly less injured). Initially, his only alternatives to Lahm were an out-of-form Schweinsteiger, Thiago who was always injured and Kroos who's shit there.

See, my thoughts at the time were that Pep broke up the immensely successful Schweinsteiger-Martinez partnership, which I do still consider a mistake. However, with the injuries we had in 2013/14 I think Lahm was a good stop gap solution. It never should have been considered permanent, though.

And Sir_Didier_Drogba, Muller right now is so much better than he's ever been. I think it took Pep a year or two to figure him out, but now there is a very strong understanding. Since Muller broke into the team he has been a consistent 12 or 13 goals in the Bundesliga every single season. This year he might get 25, and it's not because the team is scoring more goals, if anything we're scoring less.

You overrate that double pivot, they were great but Heynckes's Bayern strength were the wings (Lahm+Robben/Alaba+Ribery).

Fullback, never a clever midfielder.

Most modern teams with really good players don't usually restrict their best players in one area or position or role. A fullback starting at fullback can move and operate further forward in a team full of great players which maximizes possession while being an absolute great player himself(one of the very best of the past 15/20 years) is able to do more compared to shit players.

Dani Alves, is he called right wing fullback midfielder just because he has a high quality activity level in those areas when called upon? No he is a fullback and a great player. And Guardiola came up with his pointless bullshit to play him further forward which limited his effect by taking away the space he was supposed to advance into and great at in the first place. Did a similar mistake with trying to turn Lahm into a midfielder. But now Lahm is back to his best and to the benefit of the team overall in his position.

Now since he has different attributes to Alves, his passing and tactical intelligence are stronger, for example, so he becomes a more central footballer while Alves is a more of a Brazilian street "flair" player. It has nothing to do with Guardiola and they're better off in there actual positions.

Yeah, amazing. Just when I think Klopp is starting to consolidate things, sonethibg like this happens. How does it work with the cl place for Europa winner if the Europa winner finishes in a qualification place - does it go to the runner up or to the next placed team in the winning teams league? Like it Dortmund win Europa and finish second in bubdesliga and Liverpool are Europa runners up do they get the spot?

Valencia 0-2 Celta. I think its impossible for Valencia to get relegated even though Gary Neville keep insisting.
