Exciting game, Inter didn't play to their full extent tho... and Vieira was dumb for arguing with the ref. (I think he was mad he got carded for his first fault or something)

MILAN, March 11 (Reuters) - Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini said on Tuesday he wanted to leave the club at the end of the season.


The coach made the announcement after Inter were knocked out of the Champions League last 16 after losing 1-0 at home to Liverpool and 3-0 on aggregate.

'The next two and a half months will be my last guiding Inter,' he told a shocked news conference.

'I have told the boys and it's right to tell everyone. It is a decision I have taken and it does not depend on the defeat tonight.'

There was no official statement from Inter and there had been no hint he would make such an announcement.

Inter romped to the Italian title under Mancini last season and are six points clear this term. However they have limped out of the Champions League at the first knockout stage for the second successive season.

Mancini, Inter coach since July 2004, added that he wanted to leave Inter with another scudetto and an Italian Cup in the bag.

Earlier this season Italian media reports said Inter owner Massimo Moratti had held talks with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho but the club and the Portuguese denied it.

I think it's right for him to go. Look, I have respect for him, but what Inter fans now want is more than just the Scudetto, they want to leave an impact in the UCL. Mancini has consistantly shown he is not capable of that...so sorry but it's time to say goodbye.

I would actually like Lippi to come. He might have had a bad time at Inter in 1999 but maybe things could change...I DO NOT want Benitez though...that man would make Inter a bore...

We need a coach who can bring flare and UCL glory to thins team. I'd rather have a forceful team than a defensive, dull one. But hey, this summer is bound to be full of speculations since so many teams are said to leave their coaches...

But I have to admit, it won't be the same without Mancini...and I wonder how this news will impact the boys for the rest of the season...maybe that's why they've been so poor the last few games...

I certainly hope Mancini would get the positive results at the end of this season with Inter & thanking/wishing him good luck from any Inter fans by the end of it. (Y)

He's done a marvelous job with Inter in domestic competition, although European glory don't belong to him for the 4 seasons consecutively (twice in QF & twice in the Round of 16)

for a new coach, I don't mind seeing Mourinho coming in.

A draw 1-1 from Genoa certainly make me feel worried. We can't lose crucial points anymore if we want to win the Scudetto.

Roma (still) look very strong despite their recent loss from Lazio.

Xifio, after today's game, I believe that Inter and Real Madrid are fighting in following Arsenal's example and seeing who can throw away the lead faster.

That's it. After losing today I am convinced we can kiss the Scudetto bye bye. If Roma doesn't win it then they are downright pathetic.

It's shocking to see the terrible form we've been going through after having started out so beautifully...and it's not going to get any better. We have a lot of much needed players injured, everyone else is tired, and we're going to have to weather some tough matches until the season ends.

Mancini, get out!!! :s***:

Well I want to say that my hopes of winning the Scudetto are really low because our team is just going through an incredibly horrid time...our only in-form player is Julio Cesar LOL

About Mourinho...yeah, I'd like him to come to Inter because I see him as the perfect person who would keep us steady in the League as well as serious contenders in the CL

However, I must say, I would feel humiliated if Drogba and Lampard would come because it would seem as though Mourinho took up the job and now he wants to bring his 'goons' from England because in his eyes the current Inter squad su<ks.

I mean, yeah, alright, it would be nice having Drogba but...1) we have enough strikers and 2) he wants to come because of Mourinho, not because he wants to play for Inter...and that for me seems humiliating....to bring players who don't care what team they play for as long as they're with the coach...

it's 99% Inter will clinch the title of Serie A 07/08 this coming Sunday / later on.

hopefully, Inter will win it in the derby of Milano. It should be a cherrish moment.
