The Iraq War, WHY?

I know this is another touchy subject but my Government teacher just got done giving my class a 2 hour lecture on how Bush was right to invade Iraq and how its only benefiting us as a nation. She said that Bush invaded Iraq so that he could help the Iraqi people find peace and lead them down the right path.

Now I haven't been listening to much of the news lately but I could have sworn that Bush made up lame excuses (nuclear warheads) for his reasons on Invading Iraq.


I was just wondering why Bush and the U.S. felt the need to go to war with Iraq. Sorry, I know this is kind of late but I would just like to know how the war started and a summary of what has happened so far.

George Bush made the case to America that Iraq aided and harbored terrorists and against U.N. resolutions kept making "weapons of mass destruction" including an attempt to get yellow cake uranium from africa in order to make nuclear weapons. They didn't aid terrorists, we have found no weapons caches, and the uranium claim has been proven completely false.

This war is going on for two reasons,

1. Revenge on Hussein for trying to kill Senior

2. To have a reliable source of oil and bases in the Middle East for an impending conflict with Iran.

All the reasons that Bush gave such as nuke programs and terrorism have all proven false and the only one that has actually been true was that he was a monster and killed millions.

War in Afganistan=Unable to find Osama, who is probably njoying himself.

I used to visit a daily news portal every day, and I read reports about bomb attacks which kills at least 30 and at most 150 in Iraq almost every day, for months!!...

I don't think that this has something to do with peace and leading them into the right path..

I get 90% of my food from the local store. however, if I manage to get them cheaper from wherever (and I include of course the transportation price) I'd get them there...

Besides, not every oil is equal... Brazilian oil, for example, is ****ty... it's too lightweight, and does not make good diesel... some other countries produce oil that is too heavy, and does not make good gasoline... I have no idea how Iraqi oil is compared to Venezuela's, but it COULD be a reason to get the oil there. I'm not saying Bush went for the oil (I do think he did, though), but there can be a reason if he did...

Also, the freedom excuse must be the worst I've ever known... I understand there was no freedom at all in Iraq, but what happened to let countries decide their own fate? Handing the country over to the people is not a good idea.... like if you won 10 thousand dollars, you'd spend it some way... if you worked hard to get that money, you'd spend it differently... I mean... why are most americans so patriotic? they fought a damn war to get the country to where it is now... people gave their life, it's not like it was handed to them (like Brazil )

I doubt there was any evidence that Saddam was building WMDs... I mean.. if USA invaded North Korea because it was a threat to the world, with their nukes and everything, I'd understand it a bit more (would never agree, though)... but since it's too close to south Korea, Japan and the USA, it's not gonna happen....

All the time at uni in media we talk about how propaganda is used in the modern age with "Iraq". Also uni students have some of the most pathetically pretentious views on stuff like this you will ever hear.

My Sociology professor is the biggest liberal I know, but even hearing his weekly rants about how horrible Bush is, I'm not convinced that the war w/ Iraq wasn't necessary. (it's easy for me to say, but that's because I would never go to Iraq)

1/2 of the people in this world aren't free, of course that was never our goal but Bush will surely take all the credit for "liberating them".
