JRW 4:45 ran throughout the weekend on ISS Pro Evo 2. This is what I think:
Graphics:
Same as before, but there was no need to change anyway.
Sound:
THANK YOU Konami, KCTE and everyone else involved in the game for getting rid of the crappy sound of kicking a ball that sounded like kicking a large tin can in ISS 1 and putting in putting in a realistic sound.
Crowd noises are OK, would of liked to herd a better crowd noise when scoring a goal but I can live with it and it's still better than FIFA.
Commentary still s***s ass! I have turned it off like I did in the first one. Need to get that sorted next time round!
The Football itself:
Unlike playing head tennis and scoring 15+ goals from 2 yards out like in FIFA 2001, in ISS Pro Evo 2 I am actually playing....
(The Jodis returns to his PS One to play on the game for bit to decide how he feels about the football aspect of the game)
OOOOHHHHHHHH!!!!! BUEUTIFULL, REALISTIC, SEXY FOOTBALL.
cough!
I can see where they have improved the game to make you really fight for results and end up with realistic score lines. It was good in the first game that you could score from long range but I felt it may have been too frequent. In ISS Pro Evo 2 you can still score from long range but not as often which adds to the realism.
The only things I have problems with are that although they have improved players movement off the ball, it is still far from being real. I find some player in possession need to pass to the wing yet no one is running into that space, even players who are instructed to go forward.
One thing I really wanted in this version was that as well as players chasing a through ball and continuing forward, that I could send a through ball and make the player intended to run towards the ball then continue the attack.
I also find that you still can't control a player receiving an air/ground through ball until he has the ball at his feet.
Overall:
It is the best footy game around. I love the Master League and play in this mode all the time now. Still a few things they could improve on I feel, but other than that it is the best game to end footy game on the PS One.
Roll on ISS for PS2 and hopefully (praying) on ether/both PC and XBox.
