The last 16: Real Madrid CF - FC Bayern München [P+R]

Thank you van Bommel. We can do this in Munich... if only our fans can be as loud and supporting as they were at the end of this game. You could hear the Bayern fans singing "auf geht's Bayern, schiesst ein tor" clearly.

Even though we lost, it felt like a win. The team played well, especially in the second half. We had our moments in the first half as well but the 2nd half was consistent throughout the match. :)

What a horrible second half, so ******* boring. Thank you Capello, we should have kept the pressure up and scored some more but no it was not to be. Just try to defend and run teh time out, just horrible.

Anyway nice to see the capitan step up and score 2 goals(Y). I thought Gago had a pretty good game. Bayern's first goal came when Fabio forgot he was supposed to be defending than their second was thanks to R. Bravo who yet again ****s up and gives up an easy goal. If your going to head it, make sure it goes out far.

Oh and I ******* hate Van Bommel.

i just want to take a **** on Capello's face, and half the players today.
ill point out the best in my opinion tho, Roberto Carlos, Raul, Beckham.
i think Capello will be thrown out of the Bernabeu if he doesnt go through the 1/8...

I think it's easy to sum up. Madrid didn't stand the demanding physical rythm of the match, and some players like Beckham dissapeared in the second half, so Bayern totally controlled the ball.

Roberto injury also harmed us, letting Bravo in (what a disgrace). Still, a win is a win, and in Munich we will have Ramos (our best defender) and Diarra back.

(Oh, and I hope Van Bommel get suspended for that celebration)

Agree but I am not sure if anything will come of it.

First half - We played a very good game with 3 goals. The fans were great too. I have to say teh Bayern defence was really crappy, worse than most la liga sides which is quite bad. Lucio had no clue what he was doing and Van Buyten was not that great either. We pressed nicely and had a nice half apart from Cannavaro letting Lucio being free and score. He should have done a lot better there. I thought Ruud, Raul, Gago, Beckham, Helguera, and Carlos were very good the first half.

Second half - We sucked, it seemed like Capello just wanted us to defend for the other 45 mins and that failed. We let Bayern keep coming at us while we did zero attacks and we payed for it. When Carlos left it was a huge blow, he was doing amazing on the left side than Raul Bravo comes in and gives MVB the perfect pass, one that not even his teammates could give him. ******* useless Bravo. Casillas also saved our ass with 2 point blank saves in that half. Also Robinho was bad when he came on, he was losing too many balls. I think Reyes should have came in instead. One last thing was Higauin being subbed out, imo he as doing good moving around in the first half helping the midfiled click witht he attack. When Capello went all defensivef and took him off than thing got worse and there was a huge gap between the midfield and attack. Just a horrible second half for us.

And a good gesture too (H)
He apologized for that on tv although he doesn't have to. He's just the type of player you idolize when he's on your team but fecking hate as an opposing player.

He have to. It's violence incitement and it's punished by UEFA.

What gesture did he make? (I have been trapped at the office trying to follow all the matches on the internet and work on a big project all at the same time)

Hmm from what I read Van Bommel went into the R. Madrid locker room to say the gesture was not meant to go towards Bernabeu fans but towards an R. Madrid player ( seems like it was R. Carlos who was on the bench ) from their last encounter. So I don't get it, he dived and still felt like rubbing it in R. Carlos face? Whatever still a ****. Also Salihamidzic had apparently spit towards fans which caused Salgado to wait in the tunnel after the match to have a word with him, nothing major happened. I think Salihamidzic also elbowed Raul in the match iirc.

The elbow looked accidental. He used his arm to shield the player off and accidentally caught the player behind him.

By the way, I love the van Bommel celebration. I can understand the Madrid fans not liking it, but being on the other side and seeing your team dominate Madrid in the second half and then getting a goal for it was the best feeling. Putting the pressure on and then putting it in the net was the best feeling... and the celebration was just right.
