Or maybe cause he is the top scorer of Spanish NT since many years ago and you are blind.
He's probably played more matches than any striker too. I am not blind, I can see that most of his goals are because his team set him up perfectly. And seriously, what competition does Raul have in the way of "top scorer of the Spanish NT." If you put Villa at starting forward for 10 years I guarantee you he could top his numbers. I'm not saying that because I think Villa is a superstar, but because any good striker can rack up those numbers if given that much playing time.

I'm going to cheer for whichever starting 11 Arragones puts out on the field, but I think it would be a real shame if we didn't go with our very best, who I think right now are Villa, Cani, Pernia, Xavi (when he's healthy), and Reyes.

I don't think we have a goalkeeper contraversy anymore :funny: I think V.V.'s rep is pretty much destroyed.

Blah Blah Blah, Raul does nothing for himself his team does it all... whatever your mind is already set on Raul and nothing anyone says will change that.

In other news i thought Reyes had a serious injury?? The guys in the Arsenal fourm are saying broken foot?? Also what excatly has Reyes done to earn him a spot in the NT since your are so into the whoever is in form should go, correct me if im wrong but his start of the season with Arsenal was not so great and he just started picking up form untill he got injured.

Villa + Raul, OK? :)

About Pernia, we have Del Horno, Spanish + Younger + He scored more goals than Pernia in La Liga. Who need an old argentinian man, just another Pantic.

WOW, thanks for bringing that to my attention. I wasn't aware of the scare. Fortunately it looks like he'll be alright:

I really hope he is fit for the Madrid match because I was really looking forward to seeing him play back in Spain.
I'm not sure what you saw that constituted a "slow start" to his season. Arsenal as a whole has had an off year which affects everybody on the pitch. I think Reyes is still in form because he still does everything right. What role he can play he has played well and at no time has he been a weak-link unless he's out due to injury or suspension.
If you remember Spain's important 2-0 win against Belgium to qualify, Reyes came on as a sub and changed the face of the game. He gave both assists on the goals to secure our spot in the world cup.
So why shouldn't he start?

Well i have not seen it but i have read ( from some Arsenal fans ) that he was having a ok season. I guess you can say my reaction was more to the comments on Raul. I think Reyes is a great player, before Robinho started played the left midfield side i was saying we should have get him. I think he will go to WC if he is fit because he is a great player, as for a starter...i think Vicente might have something to say about that.

If Reyes plays and beats Madrid on Tuesday I bet Marca will be all about buying him. :chew:

What's the situation with Vicente anyways? Is he hurt?

Why is Raul so important for Spain? I understand why he's a legend in MAdrid, but why for Spain?

Poor guys has the pressue of all of Spain resting on his sholders...
He's just the all times top scorer, the captain and put much more eggs in the field than many players that erase themselves from the match when things go wrong (i.e. Vicente, Baraja...)

Beats Madrid? You mean if Arsenal beats us at home or just Reyes against whoever he plays agasint?...because (iirc) we have not lost at home in the CL for 4 years now. :chew: There was rumors of buying him because of the people that did a prank on him where they pretended to be RM representatives and Reyes said that he wanted to leave for us :fool: But Robinho is gettting better and better on that left side...

Yea he is injured.

David Villa is making a name for himself. Looks like he might get the nod ahead of Torres and Morientes for Spain.

Morientes is not scoring, so bad thing for him and Torres is one month weak, one hot week, one month weak, one hot week... so i Really would like to see a attack

Raul - Villa

Reyes - Xavi - Albelda - Luis Garcia

I got to agree on that. Torres is so overrated/inconsistant...and AC Milan wants him hah.

Looks pretty good, but what about Cani instead of Albelda? You guys haven't said a word about him.

Anyone over Albelda would be better. I think that guessing on who should play at the WC should wait until we get closer to the WC...you never know what can happen until that time.

The midfield must be Xavi-X.Alonso. Hands down.

Cani could play with them but only if he keeps playing like he's been doing lately. Why 4-4-2? For me, 4-3-3 all the way. Spain's talent is on midfield and now that we have an efficient forward, 2 CF is not a must.

We need a midfielder that can defend. If we dont do that we are *****d :P

Madrid need a Gravesen, Milan a Gatusso, Chelsea a Makelele/Essien, Barça a Edmilson/Marquez, Juventus a Emerson, etc...

Zaragoza will play the Copa del Rey final. Deserved. They've beaten Atlético, Barça and Madrid.

You've got to admire the Real Madrid players. They tried and they almost did it, even though the ref disallowed a goal from Ewerthon. Though I wonder if it was worth the huge effort, when everybody knew that it was almost impossible and they have to play Arsenal next week. Now they're out of the Copa del Rey and I guess they'll have to rest players in la Liga.... as if they could..

I don't see any way that Arsenal can win in Madrid. They're playing like complete sh*t, especially without Reyes.

In other news, Sevilla won today in Moscow 0-1, even though it was 15 degrees below 0 centigrade and the pitch was absolutely horrendous:

The whole pitch was pretty much dirt and salt. I felt so bad for the players. Spaniards don't like the cold too much. My dad went to the match and said that the fans went to the bathrooms at halftime to heat their hands up on the blow-driers.

I only saw 5 mins of that Sevilla game because i did not have time to watch it but it looked liked the Sevilla players were not liking it. The goal was pretty weird too, in off his knee.
