Wow, a lot has been talked about here so I will try to keep mine short. I think that its stupid to bench Villa, Torres is horrible and Raul is questionable. I think Spain would be stronger if Raul was on the bench unless he has upped his form somehow? I did not see the game vs Russia so I cant comment on how he did.

Now to Iniesta...come on DT. It not because he plays for Barca, its because Luis is a fool. I dont think Salgado or Raul really deserved a callup so please stop with the your a Madrid fan so you will defend Raul/anything Madrid related. As for why Iniesta does not start? Like I said Luis is a fool, he starts Lopez/Del Horno infront of Pernia, puts Ramos at RB, plays Albelda and Senna at the same time, etc. I dont know if Xavi is fit/on from to start this WC so a midfield of Cesc-Iniesta would be great imo. I dont like coaches who have untouchable players, so it sucks that some players who should see the bench might not. On the GK issue, Casillas > any keeper.

First of all I do agree with you that Raul is not good at some types of games that we play like counterattacking, that hurts him the most imo.

He has looked alright and as I said before him starting is questionable. I dont see where he will fit in a 4-3-3 though? I am guessing that Luis will go with a 4-3-3 right so where would he play? He is to slow for the winger/forward role (although Joaquin is not sure to shine as other have posted ), the center of mid is coverd quite nicely.

Robinho does work for the team, he seems to be the player running around the most trying to get the ball, give the ball, or make something happen when our other players just stand there like dumbasses.

No one must play, if he is really on form and doing well than sure he can play but no one should be an untouchable as your making Raul seem. I dont think its bad to bench a player once and a while. Well all I watch is Madrid games so what should I judge Raul on? I will say he started the season out pretty good but after his injury he was not so great. Oh and his form for RM does effect his form for the NT, if he is doing bad for us than his confidence will be low and the things he did so easily he wont be able to do for the NT. Like the game vs Villarreal, if it was a more confident Raul he would have scored one of those many chacnes he got with a chip over the keeper like he use to do.

Honestly i wanted to bench Raul and Torres, but about Raul everything changed, he is totally differente of the Raul of Real Madrid, he is playing as always, he have been playing like the Good Raul of the past.

When it's too late

Crusader, it's not a Real Madrid thing. It just isn't fair to ignore a season's worth of poor performances because of two friendlies where he didn't f*ck up.

I think its totally crazy to play using 2 wingers and 2 not defensive players like Xabi and Xavi. It remember me the match vs Portugal when we used Vicente/Joaquin Torres/Raul Albelda/XabiAlonso and Portugal raped us mainly cause we didnt had ball possesion

I pray we only use 1 winger as much.

If you mean the Euro2004, Spain played with Baraja and Albelda in midfield. They were terrible.

I like that line-up but 4-3-3 with another midfielder and without Raul or Joaquin would be better.

Baraja + Albelda = We only received 1 goal in 180 minutes.

Xavi + Xabi + Iniesta = in the second half spain - egypt we defended very very bad, against a top team that could be to receive 2 goals in 40 minutes

I know we need ball possesion, i think Luis know that and need to find the best way to have a good defense having the ball.
