The Official CONCACAF Champions Cup Thread

First leg of the quarterfinals will be played this Wednesday.

CD Saprissa (Costa Rica) - CF Pachuca (Mexico)

San Juan Jabloteh (Trinidad & Tobago) - Chicago Fire (USA)

CD F.A.S. (El Salvador) - CF Monterrey (Mexico)

LD Alajuelense (Costa Rica) - San Jose Earthquakes (USA)

Watch out for the two Costa Rican teams in this tournament. Both teams have a handful of Costa Rican internationals so they're definitely capable of an upset.

...just for the heck of it:

Somehow, I knew you'd find and post that pic, Shifty. Even I laughed when I pulled up the Crew's website the other day. :D

First leg results:

CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh (Trinidad & Tobago) 5-2 Chicago Fire

Alajuelense (Costa Rica) 3-0 San Jose Earthquakes

Saprissa (Costa Rica) 2-0 Pachuca (Mexico)

Deportivo FAS (El Salvador) 0-0 Monterrey (Mexico)

:(

I somehow doubt another miracle comeback is going to happen for San Jose, but I still have hope for my Fire. How we are down three goals to CL San Juan Haywood Jablowme is beyond me in the first place. The San Jose loss is understandable considering the quality of the opponent and the fact they are in mid-season form while San Jose are still in preseason. But there's no excuse for the pathetic defensive performance by the Fire.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight... the Fire didn't exactly get creamed by Morelia a couple of years back. In fact if I remember correctly the second leg game went down to the wire.

1-0 Fire after the first half. Jabloteh playing a man down. The Jamaican Connection was responsible for the Fire's only goal.

PS, Paul: Reservoir Dogs is a friggin brilliant movie. (H) (Y)

hell yeah it is! (Y) (H) How do you know I like it though? Did I tell you?

And if Chicago took Morelia down to the wire...I doubt Morelia was trying. :D

But anyway...c'mon Fire! You're sooooo close! (H)
