How does some people on soccergaming forum reflect what millions of Manchester United fans think? I and many other United fans liked Smith ever since he broke into the Leeds side.

I'm just shocked and angered how quick some people are ready to kneel down and suck dick in some kind of hope that the title will come back here. Everyone wants to "compete" with Chelsea, when we should be focusing on doing what WE have to do. We will never "compete" with Chelsea, they have infinite money, endless talent and the most talented manager in the planet, trying to go head on with them is pointless. We fell short last season by AGAIN dropping points in stupid places and in stupid ways.

Losing to Chelsea two times in a season wont stop us from winning the title if we consistently beat the teams we are SUPPOSED to beat. SIgning players like Mascherano and Toure will help us do that. Signing Vieira might help us do that, but with Mascherano and Toure we have players who are on the UP, not on the decline. Can't you see that? This is not fifa, you have to think. We dont have the money chelsea have, why friggin waste our money on putrid, old ex Arsenal players, when we can lace our squad with young talent? I rather lose the title this season and win it 3 times after that, than win it this season then have to go through ANOTHER "transition period" where we miss out.
Smith's opinion was based on fans in this forums, manutd.com forums and news reports at the time. If i can't say that he was the most hated player between the two clubs (even though United definietly hated Leeds more than Arsenal), than you can't really say that he wasn't either, unless you surveyed those thousands of fans with the question of who they hate the most.

Again, first you are saying that we should look long-term and maybe have a few more crap seasons risking losing players in the same way as we are losing Ruud, but then go on saying how we need to take care of little teams first. My point was that Toure and Mascherano might need time to adapt to EPL and we will again be losing to small teams and falling further behind, even maybe behind Liverpool, while Vieira won't need ****, he will know exactly what to do and he will do it, which will cut the gap between us and Chelsea for sure and keep us away from Liverpool as further as possible. Brazillian and Greek leagues are not exactly of the same pace and speed as english and french leagues (heinze argument), are they?

Vieira is at his peak age right now and he might get a little worse in 1-2 years, but for 8 million, we can't afford to fall behind Liverpool and right now with to do that Vieira is the smartest and safest option. If he can strengthen our second position and maybe get a few points closer to Chelsea, then that will already give us more strength in the market and will attract better players. But if Mascherano doesn't fit in (just if, not saying that he won't, but you never know), then we will be stuck with again a very inexperienced, young central midfielder and twice or three times as less money then we could have had.

At what age did Zidane own Spainish, brazilian and italian midfields? 34. :)

You got to understand that there will always be great talent on the market, but if we begin to lose our grip on Chelsea and Liverpool, then that talent will come to us.

Sir Alex Ferguson can enter the transfer market with increased optimism after Manchester United confirmed a refinancing package which slashes their annual interest payments by almost 30%.
A deal is due to be concluded at some point next month which will see charges on loans fall from £90million per year to £62million.

Although United`s overall debt has increased to a massive £660million under the restructuring plan, the club have been able to cut the amount borrowed at huge cost from hedge funds.

In addition, the remaining £135million owed in the form of higher risk payment-in-kind notes no longer convert into equity, releasing the club from the possibility of being run by bankers.

"This move represents good housekeeping," said a club spokesman.

"It ensures that Sir Alex Ferguson will be provided with sufficient funds to compete in the transfer market."

Such a move had been widely anticipated since Malcolm Glazer completed his controversial £790million buy-out just over 12 months ago.

The United supporters who demonstrated against the move claimed Glazer had no chance of being able to repay the vast sums of money he needed to borrow to seal the deal.

However, Glazer and his family, who now occupy six seats on United`s non-executive board, remained undeterred, insisting the Old Trafford outfit would continue to be one of the leading players in the game.

Glazer appointed Ed Woodward as chief of staff, giving him the specific role of liaising with the banks who provided the cash for the deal and restructuring the debt.

I didn't watch it from the very beggining, but for what I've seen it was something like this:

Foster
Simpson
Brown
Evra
O'Shea
Scholes
Giggs
Fletcher
Solskjaer
Rossi

I think I just missed the other CB.

EDIT
O'Sh't played CB, the player I was missing was Richardson

still 0-0, 10 minutes to go.

should we fail to sign big names we still have some reserve players to rely on, and i do believe they are decent players. In Rossi, Jones and Pique we have three good players.

i dun think he carrick is the solution..he could do well but i think we need more of a hardman. I still cant believe we let zokoro go to spurs

I still want Scott Parker.

Carrick is mediocre. We don't need another Djemba Djemba or Miller. I'm still upset we didn't make a move for Zokora... so many good players just passin' us by. Don't know what's going through Fergie's head but I still have faith in that he knows what he's doing.

And don't rely on any players from Juve or Milan coming, because they won't. If they do come to England, Chelsea will be everyone's preferred destination. That's been the trend the past few years and it's not gonna change for a while until we start winning some silverware. Out of the mass exodus, I only see Vieira as a possibility due to his previous experience in the EPL and supposedly smaller pricetag... and Fergie admires him.
