for the crowd trouble,,think every1 knows now that thw police were itchin for trouble and italian jounralists have confirmed this on sky sports,,,,roma fans had the freedom of there side of the barrior this really didnt make sense and could some1 tell me what happened at lille in lens stadium because uefa have said that the trouble there will affect their decision in this trouble i thought that our fans were being crushed and hopped the rallings which i also beleive are banned are they??? and what happened there???

hhmm i'm not sure. I think railings are band in the UK not sure if thats the case in the rest of the world. Probably not due to the fact they had them.

I believe our fans did more than the British press would like to have us think. Having spoken with mates now back home from Rome, I'd suggest it went like this:

1. Noisy threatening atmosphire from KO.

2. Scholes sent off, United fans mindlessly throw urine filled bottles and other missiles over the screens on to the Italian supporters.

3. The italians stupidly respond & throw missiles back, into the United section.

4. Roma score, excited Italians hammer on the perspex screening towards the Reds.

5. The United fans gather in numbers directly infront of the stewards and then charge & force their way through, sprinting towards the perspect sceening. The aim to attack the Italians.

6. The police, who are stationed only on the United side of the screen & have been trying to keep a low profile, rush down the terrace (seated but only bench seats) to force the United fans back.

7. The more sensible Reds (if you can call those who've barged through the stewarding lines, sensible) get out of the way and go to some of the many empty easily accessable sections of the stand that the non-trouble seeking supporters have never moved from.

8. Others, who broke through the steward lines but chose not to retreat, were met with the Italian police. These are toughline police (not pen pushers like in England) and they force the 'fans' back.

9. Some fans don't move quickly enough, and the Italian police go over the top. They don't just strike rioters once in warning, but instead repeatedly strike them, causing cuts and bruises.

If this was the case UEFA might come down hard on us, its the second game in a row our fans have caused trouble.
The police reaction was over the top, but when you remember that a cop was murdered not so long ago, it doesn't suprise me that they reacted the way they did.

well ive seen videos of before the scholes incident of roma fans throwing stuff into our fans first, and yes we shouldnt have retaliated but i would do the smae if people were doing that too me. its obvious the italians incited it i mean riot police only in utd section doing **** all while the roma fans throw ****e at us and bait us and only reacting when we retaliated. where were the cops in the roma fans end? eh? ******* disgrace cheating wop ****s is what they are

It sounds like it was a small minority of idiots who went to Rome looking for trouble and got what they deserved.The club should find out who they are and ban them for life rather than bitching about the Italian police.

what a crazy game but it had to come.

i will be gutted if we dont end up winning the title. I couldnt be bothered about the champions league. If we have to exit the CL in order win the title so be it. We have better goal difference..so it can be said we have a 4 point lead.

And rooney should have scored the one-one instead complaing about it being a penalty. carrick and richardson were awful and james was keeping us out.

I agree. Fletcher and Richardson are incredibly sh*t (yes sh*t, they're not even average) yet they get a game every now and then. Even O'Shea's more useful than them since he does something useful every now and then.
