well....th game is ok, I ll wait for the full version to make a desicion if it is better or not than pes3.
But I dont know if it's me or the graphics in this game sucks...
I have an x800 pro...and the graphics looks much better in pes3 or we7i.

i find them way much better on this game, just look at the player faces, they are very 3d .... the pitch improves a lot if you use Anisotropic and Antialiasing (i think thats how they are called)...and run it at the highest RES you can.....

i also like animations way much better, they don-t seem to be ice skating on the grass anymore...and the nets are way much better

After playing WE8/PES4 on the PS2 for the last few months, I'm really glad a lot of the fouls for almost every contact between the players has been taken out.

It was beginning to drive me mad in the PS2 version as some games it just screwed up the flow big time and it didn't seem to depend on the ref. The only difference the refs made were whether they gave cards for the fouls or not.

After about 30 games on the PES4 PC demo I've had no issue with over-calling fouls. The PC version to me is worth it for this alone as it was my only frustration with the game.

The animations are just awesome which makes it more real in terms of contact and positioning.

The new replay/presentation is excellent.

Also, the animations and body physics makes it so that we HAVE to get the right timing for everything, from headers and shooting. (No more FIFA goals that lets you blast a 40 m screamer with no running start)

Finally, is it me? or does the new tackling animations make the game that much better? Taking out a guy is just so much fun now to watch him fly.

Oh yeah, 2-man freekick. managed to bag curl one in using the 2nd guy. (in case you dont' know, HOLD-L1 during a 2 man freekick to sneak in the kick. it's lovely, throws the walll off)

- i like the ball physics

- it's so much harder to win a header than in WE7I
- I don't like the rock tunes during the match highlights (prefer WE7 tunes)

Someone mentioned, that not much has changed - that's a good thing - "Don't fix it if it ain't broke". If konami did make drastic changes to PES, then it woudl be for the worse. The gameplay for PES series is good as is. No need to make major changes to it, this is one game we can not afford to tamper with the gameplay.

Does anyone else the flags being carried onto the pitch?

Does anyone else think the colors that show the score look fruity? (the light blue, aqua green, light red/pinky colors)

Holding down any of the pass buttons longer to hit the man further away from you makes PES 4 worth it, all on it's own.

I remember reading a couple things I haven't been able to figure out yet in the game.

1) Some way to step over the ball between you and the defender to shield it

2) The penalty box being divided into a 3x3 grid which, by picking a direction on the D-pad, would cross to that area of the box.

Anybody have any info on these two?

With my CPU PES4 doesn't seem to run so well. There's still some slowdowns, and they are even worse than in PES3. But I have about 5-year-old CPU (With just little updates along the years). But the game feels good, but a bit too fast (it means more arcade), but I think it's a bit better than PES3. Though you can't say so much just playing a demo. I hope that they could fix these slowdown problems, so that there wouldn't be any of those on MY computer at least.

Basically, the 3x3 grid corresponds to the 9 directions on the d-pad + neutral.

You hold forward while crossing, it would cross to here (running from left to right):

You hold up-forward while crossing,

You get the idea. If you held back while crossing, you'd cross to the edge of the box where the half-circle is.

About crossing: Van Nistelrooy said it is harder to win headers.
A good advice is to make crosses using double O ; this way you get more straight and pacey crosses and they are easier to win.

Excellent diagrams, and that is indeed how I understood it was supposed to work. However, the ball doesn't seem to be travelling to those areas when I point that direction. It seems to always try to go to a player, even if he's nowhere near where I pointed.

well...I am playing the game at 1280x1024 in high res, and 16x anisotropic and 6x antialiasing, and the game graphics was better in pes3
I like the gameplay of course, and I will play this game for sure!!! I don't care about the graphics, but.... .

I 'll take 2 screen for you guys, one for pes3 and one for pes4 so you can compare and see it for yourself.

My sound is unsynched at times. Sometimes when a player hits the ball, you hear it some seconds later
And another thing. When the I shoot the ball att goal everthing seems to go fastforward

Now has anyone noticed the goddamn great net movement? When I score I'm just like "god damn that net shakes like a real one" They got that game speed down to perfection aswell as player movement. I'm shaking from the experience!!!

i have played the demo for a few hours now since yesterday so heres my demo-review:

first of all, strange things i noticed are:
- shooting system (ball flies too slow and always to goalkeepers hands).. what i have to do for a hard low shot? tapping the button ends with a slow one.
- goalkeepers (sometimes they only watch the ball goes in) maybe because i play on level 3?
- you cant replay when the ball goes out (Replay button immediately becomes grey (inactive)... unlike pes3 where you could replay if you pause quickly after ball goes out) and automatic replay is shown in boring isometric view.. again..
- when in replay mode, the camera views are weird. i mean they are all situated too low..
- about 60% of passes in game are performed with outside of foot.. looks ok but too much the same animation IMO

apart from these things which also need more practice i think (shooting etc) its a great game. animations are superb, net animations are really improved, AI is a lot better, graphics overall look more beautiful than last year and also referee is doing a good job (advantage rule +!).
atmosphere and commentator are also better now, the ingame scenes are looking class, something i always missed in pes3. the game feels a lot more realistic, shooting heading passing chest-control stepovers sidesteps running first touch etc everything looks how it should.. its almost like watching/playing football in real.
players are also more lifelike in style of running, ballcontrol etc. and i think i dont need to tell one little word about ballphysics! this game's surely better than pes3!!
oh and gameplay overall is a bit faster, which i personally like.

and yeah, no slowdowns.. that's also one of the most important things i was looking for to be fixed since pes3..

the only thing i need now, is a demo-time patch!

Played the demo on a laptop a view times, amazing!!! Eventough the graphix on this laptop aren't super I love the game... It's a pitty time is just 5 min...
