but you're forgetting that benfica was the the uefa champions league final not so long ago, 87/88 (lost to psv on penalties) and in 89/90 (lost 1-0 to milan).

and now we're coming back to the big matches

plus benfica home field is where the euro 2004 final will be played :rockman:

No problem man, i like Porto very much and i consider myself a fanatic but i can tell the truth when i have to, and notice that i've just mentioned facts, nothing more. About those finals of course i know Benfica was there, the fact is that it wasn't glory moments cause Benfica lost...

get to an cl final is already an achievement ;)

Ok, but Benfica's team didn't had the brilliance of other times and i still remember that Benfica went to the final of 89/90 with a goal of Vata scored with his arm against Marseille in the second leg of the semis...

In the 90's we have good european performances, we reached one quarter-final and one semi-final of the old Cup Winners Cup, and one quarter-final of the Champions League.

;)

But it was still far away from what Benfica did in the 60's...

WAS the best... ;) u can say that Benfica is still the biggest club but never the best cause in case u don't know the best is the team is winning in the present and as u know Porto is the best club in Portugal in the last 20/25 years, not just in these 2 years and a half with Mourinho... (H)

We just had more quality in the 60's and also one of the best players ever. In the 60's Benfica was one of the powerhouses like Real Madrid or Milan are considered today.

You can tell how good Eusebio was just by looking at how he is rated today, never having left portuguese football and played overseas. I wonder how he'd be rated if he had joined Real Madrid at the time.

Fc Porto never fails in this kind of matches. They deal well with the pressure and they have a better team. Never the less if they get on the pitch thinking of the champions league final maybe Benfica can pull an upset. Benfica has a great side also but i just think Fc Porto is too strong right now. I wish Benfica can proove me wrong altough.

I agree with you in most things you said. Porto do have a better team. They are one of the top 5 clubs in Europe at the moment, IMO. So, they can obviously be considered favorites. It will be very difficult for Benfica to win. Still, I belive we can do it. Porto is great, but not invincible. Also, a final is a final! If our players give everything they've got during the game and have a strong desire to win, they have a good chance of winning it.

About score predictions, you must have already noticed I never make one. All we can do is wait until Sunday. I hope we have a great match!

Actually, Eusebio played overseas in America... :p

He used to visit some of the indoor soccer clubs in Newark, dunno if he still does.

It was outdoors and it was NASL leauge on the Cosmos I think which had all the great from around the world playing in the US league and stadiums were sold out all the time, but went bankrupt because player cost too much.
