if he's the best we got we'll be in deep sh*t... oh wait we already are.

That blunder against Sweden was probably the biggest I ever seen. It beats Baía's occasional blunders by miles.

Let's speak honestly: Ricardo, IMO (and in the majority of the Portuguese people), was by miles our best keeper from 2001 to 2003. I considered him one of the best in the world! I have a special interests in GK, because I frequently play in that position and I'm an admiror of them, so I always pay a lot of attention to them, evaluating them, seeing them in action. He truly has great qualities! He was always consistent and really great during that time. With him on that form, Baía (that used to be my favourite keeper, and to me the best in the world from 1993 to 1996) didn't have a chance.

But the truth is that since Ricardo went to Sporting, especially in the second half of the season, he doesn't seem like the same player. Somehting very wrong has happened to him mentally, because obviously nobody loses their qualities from one day to another. It's a psychological problem, probably due to the pressure and polemic surrounding Baía being called or not and also Sporting's bad season. So, I think he isn't our best keeper now... He's not reliable... Quim and Moreira are better options. But maybe he can recover his confidence... If he does so, then he's the best, clearly.

All I know is that it's not good having those doubts and concerns over our NT keeper. He must be there for the team to rely on, not to have them constantly worrying about him and possible mistakes.

Ricardo's blunder against sweden, curiously, was the 4th goal that Kallstrom scored like that, so it must be a curse goalies have when he takes low free kicks

It's simple, he just needs some confidence... and I'm sure that if we loose Euro it won't be because of him...

what did baia do yesterday? only that rush on giuly, cause after that monaco didn't even made a shot on target.

Everybody played bad in th WC and everybody blamed Baia. So if everybody plays bad this year, then i'm blaming Ricardo. ONLY FAIR


Baia is tied with Pele as the player with more titles won. What a legend. So what you want Baia is the best Portuguese Goalie of all time

Baía made an excellent exhibition yesterday, i know some of u are blind but everyday it's more clear that someone don't want him in the NT, i heard some rumours that it was because he was defending António Oliveira in court in the case that oppose him to the FPF, i don't know if it's true but some strange things are happening in our Football Federation...

BTW, just a joke that i heard : "O seleccionador Luis Felipe Scolari convocou 10 milhões de portugueses para torcerem pela selecção portuguesa e poderem ser campeões europeus, enquanto Vítor Baía não tendo sido convocado já se pode gabar de ser Campeão Europeu! :funny:

Baia played great yesterday, but IMO, he only got the blame at the WC because he didn't play well, he shouldn't have been selected after an injury.

He got the blame at the WC unfairly, i think he wasn't bad, the problem was in the bad shape of some of our defenders and specially the attacking players like Figo, João Pinto... I still remember that if it wasn't Baía we could have suffered like 3 or 4 goals at the end of the game against S.Korea so i think the problem was not Baía, definetly.

We didn't lose the WC against Korea, we lost it against the USA...

Well, against USA we sucked but we still had hopes!

Against Korea, and since Poland gave us that break of beating USA, we only needed a draw, the door was opened for us! But Figo bad shape (and i worship Figo, i luv him, dont judge me wrong), JVPinto boxing act, Nuno Gomes last minutes blunders, and total lack of pace gave it all away! Baia did some pretty good saves that could have cost us a more sever defeat!

He shouldnt have been the nº 1 in WC, Ricardo should, but it wasnt Baia fault only!!

the NT won today 9-3 against a AF Leiria combinate team. Nuno Gomes scored 4 goals, Ronaldo 2, and Figo, Postiga and Simão 1. Ronaldo played for the AF Leiria team some minutes and scored 2 goals for them.
