is valencia, or villareal really using their cantera?
all of you say we dont use our cantera, but tell me of a team that really does? a

Valencia have Raul Albiol ( now a starter ) and David Silva who looks like he will maybe start or take a first choice sub role to bring him into the squad. Both went on loan for one season and are now looking like first team material, and these are recent players. Villarreal, well its a smaller club so I dont expect them to have the best youth around and I dont really follow either club so.... We have good players but we fail to bring them into the squad or loan them in time to be ready for the step up to playing with the first team.

i mean "young" canteranos.... r.madrid also has r.bravo, casillas .... etc
what i am saying is that no team is actually giving chances to "young" canteranos...
the only exception is messi...

oleguer and iniesta are the exception too; they were not so long canteros; raul albiol and silva for valencia they were not so long canteranos too;navas and kepa for sevilla, raul garcia for osasuna; español and real sociedad teams is based on canteranos etc... etc... ; so dont generalize;the majority of the canteranos u guys used rarely in the last season are now gone; so like i say before real madrid has used before their youth system to be the base of their team and it worked for you advantage ; why not use it again;

btw i wasnt just talking about la liga clubs only ; i was talking about clubs in europe in general; alot of clubs in the world are using their canteranos as a base of their teams.

i think we are overrating our youth players a bit, i mean some of them will be stars, but a lot of them will just be squad players

for instance, juanfran was 'figo's replacement' for how long now? He's still young, but he's done next to nothing for us.

I think javi garcia will turn out to be the best from castilla :jambo:

Its hard to rate our youth when they still play in the Castilla even after 19-20 years old, we need to start loaning them out at a younger age. 17 or 18 is when we should start loaning them to a midtable first divison team to try to get them to reach first team material. Just my opinion, I think we dont push the young players enough.

but how would you now this if some of them dont even get the chance; some get loaned o transfer before the can debut; recently you guys only use your youths when you have major injured list of starting players; which is ok cuase this one of the ways canteranos get their chance; but its a shame that for some of them i doesnt matter if they had a great season or at least showed something more special than any starting player out of form; they get toss anyway; weres soldado?

thats my point.. our cantera is way over-rated... and what is a better chance for a player than to get experience somewhere else...

remember that real madrid is one of the best teams in the world...
u telling me that you would rather have.. juanfran than cassano playin?
or soldado on top :|

rm directives are not selfish... they dont want to destroy these player's career...
and if they ever turn out to be super stars... they can be bought back

Thats horrible man, why pay to buy our own players back? I think we do a bad job in getting them ready for the first team, we should loan them out at a younger age and by 19-20 should know if they will be first team or not. Whats wrong with Soldado, his play reminds me of RVN's just that RVN is better with more experience. Remember he was the leading scorer of the second divison, and our Castilla were not in the top 5 teams either. They are not out to destroy their career but they sure as hell dont help that much either. I dont think Floro was so off when he said all these kids need is a chance, now everyone sees what Floro saw in J. Garcia.

they are just buying superstars and expect to win la liga just by having big names; they dont care if the are in good form or not
Hello? Florentiono's time is over. Now we sign players that we think can fit into our system. Agree with the youth system though, I would have kept some of the sold players.

And our Cantera is not overrated, the problem is that we're Real Madrid and our squad is always full of international and first line players, so it's much harder for them to play minutes than in any another smaller team in the world.

BTW Pablo Garcia has been loaned out for 1 year to Celta de Vigo

Since when did he start playing in the first team?

He didn't. But he may get a few chances this season.

Fact is, you can't deny we give a lot more opportunities to our youth than anyone else. Arsenal buy other clubs' youth players, so we're basically the only big club that competes at the highest level and gives it's youth a fair chance. More than fair, I'd say. Dos Santos is 17 and already has experience in the first team. Messi is 18 and is an established first team player. Wait for a year, two maximum, and you'll see Dos Santos in our first team.

btw if you're serious on Zebina, then I don't know whether Capello is having a laugh or he has some master plan. It's weird

Didn't Messi's father move his family to Spain when Leo was young to get treatment for some condition his son had? I could be wrong

No they weren't, but they were brought into the youth system as undeveloped youngsters, while Arsenal buys developed youth players on the cusp of breaking through. I don't like it, but they are smart.
