Look, i'm not knocking the guy, I personally like him, but he's way past it in terms of being an effective player, i'm sure you were well aware of that the last time barca played in madrid. I mean we kicked hierro out on his ass and he was the heart and soul of the team for so many years, ivan is earning a very salary and will surely adjust to a new jersey number

Correct me if I am wrong but I think it was Helguera who said if his contract renewal did not speed up he would sign for Barcelona ( or was it Espanyol? ). Something like that and that was when he was being worried about his contract getting renewed. Now from that same contract he gets too much money to be just about the last CB used for us. We all respect what he has done for us ( Liga's and CL's among other things ) but its time to move on. Hell I think the slap in the face came last season when he was what the last CB used...I mean even Bravo ( a LB ) got in before he did and maybe even Pavon too. Its kind of crazy how he fell so quickly. This really should have been the summer to replace these players ( Carlos, Salgado, et all )

still i kinda agree with that dude; you cant deny some of the RM fans are a bit ungreatful; not just with helguera; cause i seen in this thread that more of the half of the team should be sell tought i kinda agree; i think it was a smart move by real by keeping some of them; cause having players like helguera, salgado, ronaldo, raul, r.bravo, pavon, guti; its a pretty damm good bench or reserves i mean common its rare if a club has this kind players in tha bench; on the other hand its pretty sad for the players cause some of them will roat in the bench when some of them could be having some constant playing time with lets say a midtable club;

Well considering that we wanted to sell him I doubt giving his number away will be anything like a slap in the face. Thats also an expensive bench ( they get paied a good amount ) and there is bound to be some of them that will start to complain...

but lets face it ; its real (=barca,chelsea,manchester etc.) we are talking about; its bound that in this kind of teams the players get paid more from what they are really worth; even the starters not just the bench; or do you really think a player like raul or cassano or even RVN are worth for what they get paid for.

The difference is that those guys are meant to be starters, why pay Helguera a last choice CB that much when we can just get a backup CB who will start ahead of him and will take less wage than him aswell? Helguera is surplus, even if we let him go and dont sign anyone it wont make a difference. Its like Saviola at Barca, why the hell would you pay him that much when you can get/already have another sub player that wont cost nearly as much?

i agree with this 100%. Guti could be subbed for Emerson & Raul for one of the AM's. Lets hope RCarlos gets up the field more this season. Diarra should be able to cover. same with Cichinho....

but

....sadly Capz will probably go with Becks and Salgado on the right. so he's changing attacking speed for.......defensive.......longballs.?.?.?.? Salgado aint bad IMO when attacking. but then again i base that on very little evidence.

To be honest Cesc was and will never happen , me personally i would of preferd Gago instead of both of them. Hopefully we will sign him next summer.

He has an Eu passport (Italian I think) so he wont take up an non Eu spot. He would be much easier to buy and he wants to come.

Gago in January? That's a possibility....+a cb. Players I want out = Salgado, Pavon, Helguera, Beckham. Raul should retire and work with the club in some way. Cannot see him wearing another shirt, it would be very very sad.

All in all a good transfer season for us. I will rate(taking factors such as age, track record, style, etc. into consideration):

Reyes=A-
Diarra=A-
RVN=B
Cannavaro=B+
Emerson=B
