IMO Diarra has a more defensive role than Emerson, so the comparison should be Diarra-Javi Garcia and Emerson-Guti. And in the last one I would go for Guti, that has much more to offer than Emerson, mainly having in count Diarra is capable of doing a lot of defensive work by himself.
I understand those are their natural positions, but I based my analisys on how Capello is using them.
