I posted this in another thread where that guy was asking what epl team he should support. I thought I'd share it with you guys. It'd be nice if everyone else shared their stories as well.

How about you let the team pick you, like someone has already said?

For example, I started supporting Barca when I accidentally saw them play a Champions League match. I saw them at my cousin's house because he was watching the match. I didn't know what the Champions League was, didn't know who the team in grey were (Barca, away kits), I asked my cousin about that particular team, and he told me: "Barcelona". They just caught my eye, you know? Everything about them.. They lost that match, and it was a downer, even though it was the first time I had seen them play. Then I started watching Barcelona everytime I could.. And now they're the only team I support. Man, I love them more than my NT. When they lose, I don't watch football until their next league game. If they lose a CL match on Tuesday, I don't watch the match shown on Wednesday.. that's the kind of love that couldn't develop had I chose them. They have chosen me in a way..

My advice is, watch those seven teams play, and you'll develop an affection for one or more.

I totally agree with you.

Living in the US, I never really got a chance to watch any soccer. One day my mom calls me downstairs because Figo is being awarded the World Player of the Year award on the portuguese news. Believe it or not, at that time I had no idea who he was. Regardless, seeing a portuguese person being awarded such a great honor filled my heart with national pride. I decided to learn all about Figo and that of course led me to Real Madrid.

At the time, Fox Sports World was the only channel(other than a rare CL game on ESPN2) that had games. I started watching EPL and Bundesliga games while following Real Madrid on the internet. I grew to like watching Manchester United and Bayern Munich games, but they never got me as nervous or excited as waiting for a score to update on Real Madrid's website. By luck I found a restraunt that showed all the Real Madrid matches from a Latin ESPN. It was a pain in the ass going there, cause I would have to buy lunch and then eat it real slow for 2 hours. Luckily GolTV was created and everything became alot easier.

When Figo finally left Real Madrid last year, it had no impact on me at all. At some point in the first season that I followed Real Madrid, it stopped being about Figo and it became a passion for the club. Everytime we score I jump out of my seat and cheer. Everytime we are wronged I curse uncontrolably. Real Madrid is part of my life now and is bigger than any one player. It started very humbly with an interest in Figo and turned into a club that I will support until the day I die.

Real Madrid chose me that day my mom called me downstairs.

RUSI

El Merengue Argentino
Though I was born in Argentina, my family is originally from Madrid, and I have loved Real Madrid for as long as I remember through my dad and grandfather.

I also loved El Principe Redondo.

Awsome, same here :rockman: I am sure just about everyone that watched him loved him. Nuno, I'm too lazy to type up something like that but basically when I started watching/liking soccer I saw some Madrid games and thats all really.

RC and Cicinho doing their best Gravesen impressions.
LFMAO It seems that although Gravesen is sold we´ll have still plenty of clowns in the team :fool:

I thought UEFA expected squad lists soon (CL) ?

Yea like Rusi said we dont have to do this, the problem for us is that some teams will have tied up players so we wont be able to go after those teams anymore.

i noticed on the youtube clip that no one tried to hold back Robinho! ROFLMAO!! there was like 10 people holding Grav back and i think Salgado gave Robinho a pat on the back! LOL. those pics are priceless! and RC and Cichino. LMAO!!! Poor Robinho, he stood up for himself and he still gets laughed at. :) :) :)

What was happening at the end with several people shaking hands with some guy? and what was the News guy saying at the end???

so 4 more signings to get (or more??). a CM, DM, LB, AM.
A question, (not trying to start a whole 'your/we're not getting Kaka/Cesc phase) but if we get Cesc do we still want Kaka? or vice versa?what do u guys reckon?

I don't think either of them will come.
