The place used to be swamped by them a couple of years ago, speaks volumes.

too true

I'm a Liverpool fan, and the worse thing I thought about the Kewell transfer last July was the glory hunters branch from oz jumping onto Liverpool from Leeds. Now with Leeds relegated, I thinks its time to leave the Australian ex Leeds "fans" in the sea like asylum seekers!

I'm pure Malaysian.
I've always had a thing for the Portugese. :p
I supported them at the 2002 World Cup because Malaysia will never in a million years make the World Cup, sadly.
We have some good football players, it's our size that's keeping us down.

 who the heck could you support another country? I know Hong Kong and Canada suck but I still support them :kader:

Were any of those countries in the World Cup?
I felt like supporting a team. I chose Portugal. Is there a problem with that?
The only reason I didn't support my own country is because they simply weren't in it.

Hardly.
I watched the match where we played well against erm, what team was that. Iran or something.
Then all of a sudden we conceded nonsense goals.
I don't remember the HK one.

id say about 60% of the ppl on these threads are utd fans, and 90% of those ppl are gloryhunters. I cant see how ppl that dont live in britain, and have no british backgrounds could be fans of UTD. If your father of a family member supported team, thats good enough as well. whatever, gloryhunters are better than no football supporters at all;)

I really agree with that, I may be wrong but I still find it really hard to beleive that you can truely support a club that you have no cultural ties to or some other historic significance. I suppose you can cheer for whoever you want but I still beleive it's different when you've grown up supporting a certain club from your country or region, it actually almost becomes part of your lifestyle. To me that's a lot different than "supporting" a club just because you like a certain player or something..

i disagree, yes there gloryhunters but then you generalise everyone who isnt british or that doesnt live in the country that "their" team plays in. For example, you are calling Larry a Glory Hunter because he lives in NZ and not england:confused:

I didn't call anyone a glory hunter, I just don't beleive you can really feel what it's like to deeply support a club that you have no cultural or regional ties with. To me, supporting Benfica I feel the same pride and anguish that I do supporting my national team....Now, do all those Malaysians feel the same thing for Man Utd. or Real Madrid that they do for their country? maybe, but I doubt it...

i not saying about the malaysian who no Carlos all bout the game. im talking about the rest of the world were there are lots of people who do feel pasionate for their team but dont live in the same country;)

relax, I wasn't taking a shot at you, although your "celtic_bhoy" name and Charlton sig leave me a tad confused... but yes, I know there are true fans around the world. there are lots of die hard EPL club supporters in Canada and the USA, that I know of..

im not having a go at you either im just giving another point of view. and with my charlton stuff well thats who i support(not a diehard just my epl team) in the EPL and they really need to win theyre last two games so i thought id show my support since the spl is wrapped up;)
