We ruined football? Thats stupid.

I would love to see how much money all the Italian clubs have spent in the last 15 years compared to Chelsea.

And what 15mil is worth now, wasn't the same as 15 years ago. Besides the transfer market crashed before Abramovich came, now all these clubs in Europe have money thanks to him.

And Abramovich doesn't always get what he wants .... but Mourinho does.

What's Bojinov like? I've seen Lecce a few times this year but because im not so familiar with the lesser bigger clubs' players in Seria A, it's hard to really pick them out. But I think i've seen a few goals of his. Would he be good in England? He must be good if Chelsea are willing to have him as a striker when they could get most people in the world.

i meant the fact that they can have any player and price out any other competition. For example, say Juve wanted Bojinov, but wouldnt pay over $10M, so Lecce refused and thats that. But with Chelsea, they can pay/overpay for anybody and no club can resist the figures they can offer. I dont know, to me that just ruins all the fun of transfers.

And Chelsea has prob spent more in past 2 seasons than Juve,Inter and Milan have all spent combined the past 5 years.

and to Amdy, Bojinov has all the makings of being a world class striker. But, like Shevchenko, being from Bulgaria he'll never get the praise he deserves.

Clubs can refuse any offer, it's that they won't. I think you're forgetting that soccer, besides being a professional sport, is also entrepreneurial and capitalistic.

Abramovich is an investor and there's nothing wrong with using his investments to stockpile new talent. And if any team has ruined soccer, it's Real Madrid.

Shevchenko does get the praise he deserves.

Coppa: Udinese win nine-goal thriller
Saturday 20 November, 2004

Lecce and Udinese surpassed themselves with a spectacular game, so the Friuli outfit is practically through with five away goals.

The last time these two teams met at the Stadio Via del Mare, Udinese came out 4-3 winners at the end of an exhilarating Serie A encounter, but this time David Di Michele was the star by scoring two goals and saving a penalty.

There was already a breakthrough after ten minutes, as Valeri Bojinov burst forward between two defenders and was brought down by goalkeeper Handanovic. Cristian Ledesma stepped up and buried the resulting penalty to give Lecce the lead.

Zdenek Zeman’s men nearly doubled their tally moments later when Handanovic’s reaction save from less than two yards kept out Bojinov’s volley, then from the resulting corner he tipped Marco Cassetti’s glancing header over the bar.

Lecce were dominating and Sam Dalla Bona scored with a fantastic goal, curling the ball into the top corner with the outside of his right foot, while seconds later Bojinov’s header made it 3-0 within the half-hour mark.

You can’t expect Zeman’s sides to keep a clean sheet and Udinese got back into the game from a set-piece, as Felipe was left unmarked for a free header.

Alex Pinardi drilled a good effort just over the bar, but it was the visitors who netted again to put the result back in doubt just before the break with David Di Michele’s fierce angled drive.

Lecce fought back with a fine save on Bojinov and Cassetti’s effort clipped the post, but the Friuli side incredibly completed their comeback from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 when Antonio Di Natale volleyed in Mirko Pieri’s cross.

The memories of that 4-3 victory were still fresh in the memory and Luca Anania flew to palm out Di Michele’s shot, but instead Lecce restored their lead with Bojinov’s smart counter-attack. Yet there was bad news for them, as soon after Massimo Paci was shown his second yellow card and Anania spilled Muntari’s long-range effort into the path of Di Michele for 4-4.

It still wasn’t over, as three minutes from time Di Natale put the final nail in Lecce’s qualification hopes with Udinese’s fifth away goal.

In stoppages Handanovic hacked down Mirko Vucinic and the substitutions had already been completed, so Di Michele went in goal and astonishingly saved Vucinic's penalty with his outstretched foot.

Lecce 4-5 Udinese

Goals: Ledesma pen 11 (L), Dalla Bona 29 (L), Bojinov 31, 67 (L), Felipe 34 (U), Di Michele 45, 78 (U), Di Natale 57, 87 (U)

Sent off: Paci 70 (L), Handanovic 91 (U)

Missed penalty: Vucinic 92 (L)
