Livorno snub Spartak bid
by Nadia Carminati - created on 28 May 2005
Livorno have reportedly rejected an offer from Spartak Moscow for top scorer Cristiano Lucarelli.
The experienced forward has been a revelation this season and is vying with Alberto Gilardino for the right to be crowned Serie A's leading scorer.
Lucarelli has rattled in 23 goals in the league for Livorno, following the 29 he scored last term en route to the club's promotion.
His exploits have sparked interest from Eastern Europe with Spartak rumoured to be keen on the Italian.
Spartak purportedly offered Livorno €5 million for Lucarelli but this was dismissed by the Italian club.
The Russian giants were also willing to hand Lucarelli a two-and-a-half year contract worth €2.5 million per year.
But Livorno are anxious to retain Lucarelli's services following his form this season and the fact that fellow striker Igor Protti is retiring in the summer.
------------
Way to go Cristiano . Don't be goin to Russia like those money-hungry Porto players and have your career ruined. He will eventually end up with a big team in Italy, no doubt about it
