Livorno snub Spartak bid
by Nadia Carminati - created on 28 May 2005

Livorno have reportedly rejected an offer from Spartak Moscow for top scorer Cristiano Lucarelli.

The experienced forward has been a revelation this season and is vying with Alberto Gilardino for the right to be crowned Serie A's leading scorer.

Lucarelli has rattled in 23 goals in the league for Livorno, following the 29 he scored last term en route to the club's promotion.

His exploits have sparked interest from Eastern Europe with Spartak rumoured to be keen on the Italian.

Spartak purportedly offered Livorno €5 million for Lucarelli but this was dismissed by the Italian club.

The Russian giants were also willing to hand Lucarelli a two-and-a-half year contract worth €2.5 million per year.

But Livorno are anxious to retain Lucarelli's services following his form this season and the fact that fellow striker Igor Protti is retiring in the summer.

------------

Way to go Cristiano (Y). Don't be goin to Russia like those money-hungry Porto players and have your career ruined. He will eventually end up with a big team in Italy, no doubt about it

Is Spartak Moscow a CL team next season?

I dont think Lucarelli will join a big club anytime soon. He's 30, and he already played for Inter 4 years ago (if i remember correctly)

No, i don't think he's played for any top 4 team.

anyway i found a quote that he told uefa.com

Rumours have also suggested that some bigger Serie A sides are interested in the striker, but Lucarelli dismissed any talk of a transfer. "It would be a trauma, almost like divorcing my wife," he said. "I would only leave if the club asked me to and only if my departure helped to strengthen the team."

so i guess he will stay with livorno as long as he can

naw, i dont buy it. If Juve or Milan made an offer, hed use the "im helping the club with my sale" card.

And im almost 95% sure he played for Inter in around 2000

Zamparini ends Del Neri talks
Saturday 28 May, 2005
Palermo’s future is still up in the air, as President Maurizio Zamparini has terminated talks with Gigi Del Neri and instead begged Francesco Guidolin to reconsider.

“It would be very difficult to see Del Neri on our bench next season,” noted the patron after rumours linking them with the former Chievo and Roma boss.

“In the light of his recent behaviour, I am re-evaluating that particular option. He wanted 48 hours to decide and the main issue was an economic one.”

Del Neri – who has the unfortunate honour of being hired and fired by both Porto and Roma in the same season – was one of the main candidates to take the Sicilians into the UEFA Cup next term. Another popular suggestion is current Lecce Coach Zdenek Zeman, but there could be a twist in the tale.

“I hope that Guidolin will stay on at Palermo for another year,” announced Zamparini on Stadionet.it. This is a major turnaround, as the President has spent much of the last week insulting the tactician and blaming him for the recent downturn in results.

Yet again, it is fairly normal behaviour for Zamparini, who announced earlier this season that he wouldn’t be renewing his contract only to offer him a new two-year deal a couple of weeks later.

zamparani is ****ed in the head, can't make up his mind :nape:

Seedorf a waste of time

Milan's Clarence Seedorf will never become a target for new Celtic manager Gordon Strachan. "I still don't know what he does," said Strachan. "He is the one Milan player I've never seen be the star man." The Dutch midfielder has lifted the Champions League three times with as many different clubs.

:funny:

Ok, well before I begin I should warn you that my contact was not that sure about these fixtures! So don't go betting your mortgage on this. ;)

I've been informed that Palermo v Lazio will be a draw on Sunday, big money is apparently going on this game.

My contact has also informed me that big money is going on Parma to beat Lecce. The odds reflect this as well. Parma need a win to guarentee safety and Lecce have nothing to play for... however, Parma are not arithmetically safe, are they? So I can't see the logic.

A lot of betting firms have scrapped Serie A on their coupon though! :D

If Parma wins they will have 44 points, and will be safe by one point no matter what happens to Siena or Fiorentina.

Maximum Siena can get is 43 and Fiorentina is 42
