Viola land Lobont

Fiorentina have solved their goalkeeping problems by signing Bogdan Lobont from Ajax.

The Viola have been searching for a new keeper to help fill the void left by Sebastien Frey's long-term injury.

Frey could miss the rest of the season with a knee injury and Fiorentina have been scouring the transfer market for possible replacements.

Fiorentina have opted for Lobont, who was told earlier this month that he could leave Ajax as he did not figure in Danny Blind's long-term plans.

The Romanian had slipped down the pecking order at the Amsterdam ArenA and he will be hoping to establish himself at the Artemio Franchi.

New ban for Di Canio

Paolo Di Canio has been handed another one match ban for his controversial Roman salute to fans.

The Italian was already suspended for a game following his gesture towards the Biancocelesti faithful during a League game against Juventus.

But Di Canio has today also been punished for the same ‘fascist style’ wave which initially emerged this season in the game at Livorno, a week before the Juve clash.

The former Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton player has also been handed another £7,000 fine by the Italian footballing authorities.

Di Canio has since waved goodbye to his controversial greeting given the uproar he caused.

The veteran, who was widely condemned for his actions, initially insisted that he would continue to greet the Biancocelesti tifosi in such a manner, but he’s had a re-think.

"From today, for the time being, I will avoid using gestures which some people interpret as demon like," he said in December. "I’ll do this for the good of the team.

"As for my fans, I will give them a certain look and that will be enough for us to understand each other."

Di Canio first hit the headlines for using the Roman salute during last season’s Derby Capitolino against city rivals Roma.

He will now miss the Week 22 away game against struggling Treviso.

:nape:

From the Roma-Livorno game. What's the banner in the last pic saying?

Livorno fans with nazi flags? Aren't they extremely left? Don't think they're Lazio fans, because they're wearing Roma's colours, lol.

Sorry, it's from the Roma-Livorno game.:$ That explains the colors.

I'm wondering if "Got" (actually it's Gott) is purposedly misspelled. This could just as well be a big parody.

I just heard on TV Roma might get banned from Olimpico for 8 games because of those racistic banners and flags! The police also found 6 molotov cocktails. The fanatics from Curva Sud were supposed to throw those on the Livorno players bus. :| Curva Sud, where the most fanatic fans are, are known for being extremely right too.

Di Canio wants UK comeback

Monday 30 January, 2006

Paolo Di Canio has stunned Lazio fans by announcing on television that he is considering a return to England.

“I dream of ending my career in the club I love and have always supported, but this depends on Lazio,” he told ‘La Voce del Nord in TV’ this evening.

“If they do not want me to stay on, then I don’t feel I can rule out another change of direction. Will I return to England? At this point I don’t think it’s a remote possibility at all.”

There had been rumours of problems between Di Canio and President Claudio Lotito, in particular after the patron refused to stand by his star when he was suspended for using a Fascist salute to far-right Biancocelesti fans.

The 37-year-old is also not Coach Delio Rossi’s first choice for the front line, making just 15 appearances with three goals so far this season.

Di Canio’s confession that he could come back to the Premiership is an intriguing one, as he was a fan favourite at Scots side Celtic before moving across the border to Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham United and Charlton Athletic.

The strongest links have been with former West Ham boss Harry Redknapp, who is currently struggling to keep Portsmouth in the Premiership. Redknapp has hinted over the past month that a move would be unlikely because Di Canio was playing for the club of his dreams, but the latest statements open up that door again.

His departure could shake Lazio to its foundations, as the club is already under pressure from fans who have been running a campaign to oust President Lotito.

Other players said to be on their way out at the end of the season include Fabio Liverani, Massimo Oddo, Ousmane Dabo, Christian Manfredini, Matteo Sereni and Cesar Aparecido.

There are fresh reports this evening that Brazilian winger Cesar has finally agreed his much-discussed move to Inter in exchange for co-ownership of youth team player Alberto Quadri and the loan of Guillerme Siqueira.

ummm..first of all I dont think the molotov cocktails were meant to be thrown at the players of Livorno but to the Livorno ultras. And no Curva Sud is not know for being extremely right, they indeed are, but they are not known. People tend to think that Lazio is the facist club in Rome and that Roma is the communist team. This used to be correct (to a certain extent) until some changes were made in Roma's Curva Sud.

And the big banner displayed says: Lazio-Livorno same initial same oven

Anyways fans of both Roman teams disgust me.

Notice the colour of the paper on which the slogan was written on...

I dont know if I've ever seen so many retards in the same place:

Heard it somewhere before, so I thought it was known. Apperently not. Hence the fact it's so much in the press right now.

I knew this was gonna come out. Most people that don't go to their teams' stadium on a regular basis doesn't understand the importance of their teams respective ultra' group. Who in most cases are the heart of the stadium and of the team. And they are the ones that travel with the team. But I agree, if the ultras of your team are a bunch of nazi retards then it's better not to support them. For example before the year 2000 the Curva Sud of Roma wasn't dominated by far-right groups like it is now but after the breakdown of the CUCS (Commanda Ultra Curva Sud) groups of far-right tendency took control of the curva.
