In one fell swoop with the PC demo, Konami has done to FIFA players what this forum has been telling them for YEARS!
I am a classic case actually of how EA managed to sell so many copies ecah year, I have no excuse really, I KNEW from the very outset that FIFA was not a decent footy game as I came from the KO and SWOS era's, but I didn't have a console and the ONLY football game for PC was their yearly gurge!
So they managed to sell me a copy every year from 1996 until I eventually invested in a PS2 and done the decent thing and got PES
Loads of convertees from the FIFA fourms have come on over, I even recognise some of them as the 'flamers' who said that since FIFA has the correct teeth and eyebrows PES was no competition!
Now the battle rules have changed as the greatest footy game is now gonna be available to the whole world by way of the PC version. I hope and I really do believe that there will be many more converts, and that if Konami tidies up the final version and we don't end up with an ISS3 port like earlier this year, then EA is gonna get wiped off the board next year
The demo is awesome, its such a pleasure to play an unscripted footy game on a PC and some of the more discerning FIFA players who appreciate the depth of a decent footy game have taken what is for them a brave step, but it seems just one go at the demo and they are Komami's new customers.
Next year if this version sells well and doesn't suffer from too many 'glitches' then we can probably look forward to more licenses, more leagues, more teams, and on-line play, the latter will be the final coffin nail for FIFA as it is the ONLY thing it has going for it over all the rest at the moment.
So guys, when the game comes out, no warez or downloaded copies please, get out there and hand over yer dosh and be a proud participant in the advancement of the greatest PC footy game of all time! Give Konami the dosh and the sales figures to justify their continued investment in the PC versions.
For the record, I CANCELLED my reserved copy of FIFA04 and have changed my order to a PC version of PES3 even though I already have it for my PS2 Its so good I might train my feet to hold a gamepad and play the 2 of them at the same time
