In one fell swoop with the PC demo, Konami has done to FIFA players what this forum has been telling them for YEARS!

I am a classic case actually of how EA managed to sell so many copies ecah year, I have no excuse really, I KNEW from the very outset that FIFA was not a decent footy game as I came from the KO and SWOS era's, but I didn't have a console and the ONLY football game for PC was their yearly gurge!

So they managed to sell me a copy every year from 1996 until I eventually invested in a PS2 and done the decent thing and got PES :D

Loads of convertees from the FIFA fourms have come on over, I even recognise some of them as the 'flamers' who said that since FIFA has the correct teeth and eyebrows PES was no competition!

Now the battle rules have changed as the greatest footy game is now gonna be available to the whole world by way of the PC version. I hope and I really do believe that there will be many more converts, and that if Konami tidies up the final version and we don't end up with an ISS3 port like earlier this year, then EA is gonna get wiped off the board next year :D

The demo is awesome, its such a pleasure to play an unscripted footy game on a PC and some of the more discerning FIFA players who appreciate the depth of a decent footy game have taken what is for them a brave step, but it seems just one go at the demo and they are Komami's new customers.

Next year if this version sells well and doesn't suffer from too many 'glitches' then we can probably look forward to more licenses, more leagues, more teams, and on-line play, the latter will be the final coffin nail for FIFA as it is the ONLY thing it has going for it over all the rest at the moment.

So guys, when the game comes out, no warez or downloaded copies please, get out there and hand over yer dosh and be a proud participant in the advancement of the greatest PC footy game of all time! Give Konami the dosh and the sales figures to justify their continued investment in the PC versions.

For the record, I CANCELLED my reserved copy of FIFA04 and have changed my order to a PC version of PES3 even though I already have it for my PS2 :D Its so good I might train my feet to hold a gamepad and play the 2 of them at the same time :D

LOL......good post.
I am just as happy that Konami has finally decided to listen and release a PC version of their great game, for me, its loooooooooooooooong overdue! But its never too late.
Hope this will be a wake up call for EASports to create better football game in the future (although fifa2004 is the right step forward but still not quite there yet!)....
I for one welcome healthy competition as it will be us, the footie lovers that are going to reap the benefits immensely!

well , i dont think so , EA will always own, outsell konami cos they dont focus on one market. Pes is a good game, but u get tired of it after a while with the repetition. So whether it comes out on PC or not, fifa will win the heart of most soccer gamers, cos of the fact that they tend to use real products and not fake ones, if u dont know, EA has already sold copies of 2005 without making it. If u vist most websites, they have good reviews of fifa 2004, it seems most of u on this forum are one level minded, that;s why the population of this forum is very low, with boring threads, and if u dont know when u keep hitting out at fifa, u tend to advertise the product for the masses. So pls be more constructive.Dont compare pes3 with EA's past products, have ur hands on the new product first b4 u open ur 32

But then again, there are just some ppl who don't like or know football....^ You stick to EA and their 'Americanised, version of 'soccer' the rest of us will play the real stuff, and as for repetition, I think winning every match 6 and 7-0 is er, REPETITIVE is it not?

The reasaon I and many others hit out at FIFA and EA is because we buy their games and suffer the consequences. There is NO comparison between PES3 and EA's current product so stick that up yer pipe as well.

i speak because i compare with the demo of fifa2k4..... excuse me but the gameplay is totally different one is very good with good passes and so on and the other..... you can go throw alone and shoot from 35m....... i played in international of course... i think someone who really love soccer can understand what you feel when you score at pes after doing twenty passes patiently... i think pes is a real simulation
fifa is getting better of course it's a good step but it's not suffisant..... maybe next year if konami sell a lot ea will maybe improve his gameplay again.....
but for me there is no doubt i love pes... maybe it seems difficult for someone who played fifa but after hours of traininig it' just real soccer.... you enjoy scoring and so on it's not 12/8 liek in fifa but 1/0 2/1 some real score...... so give it a try and you'll love it if you like simulation.... :)

Excuse my english lol

yeah in international at the demo i get scores like 5/4 6/3 often..... in 10min a half

But i don't want to convince you... you are big enough to do it yourself try the two games and make your choice in my opinion it's pes because the gameplay is fantastic..... graphisms are beautiful on pc too and we'll gat patches and so to get real names kits and so on so it will be great.... But i repeat it's my opinion you can play fifa i don't care..... it's your choice but i prefere play a great game with a good gamepaly it'more fun i think....;)

I did read some interesting things:
"EA has already sold copies of 2005 without making it."
For me this means that EA has perfected their scripting so much that they even scripted some customers :D
Also it says enough how 'critical' some of their customers are

"Pes is a good game, but u get tired of it after a while with the repetition"
After this I tended to stop reading, because it is no honest and objective statement, but after taking 100 mg seresta I calmed down and did read on :D
You see, I am so proud on those FIFA-players who came here, admitting PES 3 is better. They showed courage, intelligence and honesty.

I really wonder how EA react if they read forums like this... utter panic? Anger? Frustration? Or don't they care?
Some people say they now will improve even more but I wonder if they are able to. Canada is no football-country at all and their culture works against them; they never will understand what real footy-fans want, I think....
Maybe there are some people from the US and Canada on this board and they are real football fans (else they don't play PES ;) ) and they should not feel offended by my last remark :)

liljames: I think you nailed it on the head there...seems most fifa gamers hearts are in the aesthetics of football, whereas PES nuts can't get enough of the way KCET have managed to simulate 22 ppl chasing a ball around.
Heh my forum's bigger than your forum, whatever. As I've said before, once the fifa crowds attention span wanes, give it a month or two max, it'll be back to post after post of becham's new hairstyle. If that's what your into, go for it, not for me though.

Fire Fan : Have you ever played a Master League? This gives PES games unheard of replayibility, not everyone's thing but keeps most people here playing for 12 months straight.

To the repetition thing...I'm the complete opposite...FIFA could have every single kit, face, stadium and league in the world but it means nothing if the football being recreated is mediocre at best.

Yeah but if they hadn't gone into baghdad when they did, think of what they would have done with all those chemical weapons and even worse, Hussein would still be at large ;)

fifaplayer, thats not decent, if u cannt argue without bringing out the kid in u then , I guess am wasting my time.

Well Breakstuff, I have a copy of pes2, and I must confess to you I liked it a great deal, I must confess thats the longest game I played, and its a great game. I have played the demo of fif2k4, well its way better than 2k3, but the major fault, with most pes3 fans, is u guys dont give props, when its due, u have to explain and convince someone , why they should switch. All u say is pes3 gameplay, gameplay, thats not enough. well if they both had the same gameplay, then we are in for a shocker as far as crap, well lets than God soccer games are not in a monopolize form. I have a strong feeling fifa2k4 will outsell pes3, and mark my words. I am a fan of both products, I never compare both cos its my hard earned money.

As a brand new fifa convert, what really struck me in terms of difference is this little small thing:

whilist playing as england vs germany in a demo game, germany had a corner. Across came the ball, upwent my 2 central defenders with a german forward squeezed in between. Against all odds the german player managed to get a head to the ball, flicking it back to another german forward on the edge of the area.

With precise control, the aforementioned forward chested the ball forward, stricking a crisp half-volley straight at my goal. My goal keeper seeing the ball speeding towards has taken up a simple position to catch the ball comfortably in his mid drift. Unfortuanlty, there is a crowd of players standing between him and the ball!

What happened next was the most realistic computer footballing goal i have seen.

One of my defenders has turned around and is trying to make a last ditch attempt to block the ball. In doing so, the ball has ricoched of the bottom of his foot. The goal keeper, already commited has already moved in the wrong direction but still manages to get a leg to the ball. Unfortunatly, he then deflects the ball past my last defender who is positioned on the line. But the defender doesnt just stand their watching the ball fly above him, he makes a desperate jump to try and head the ball.....but misses.

That is 10 secs of PES.................enough said.............thankyou

FIFA might outsell for PCs but not for long if it keeps like that, in PS2 WE7 sells much more than any FIFA. And about gameplay not being all, lets not forget that even FIFA with all the teams that there are a number of patches to make it even more accurate. Same will happen with PES3, since there is no disk limit in PC you will see a truck load of teams in PES3 from fan made mods.

Also check out wedoits patches for WE6, they are great! We7 version will be out in a couple of months with all the kits containing sponsors and logos

Yeah sorry about that one, but aren't we all just big kids really? :D

I mean grown men playing games on computers and stuff, no wonder women don't understand us either, lol.

Anyway, the only thing that you are wasting your time with, as the PES3 download is proving 100% is by sticking to FIFA :crazyboy:

What's the point of licensing, teams, leagues, surroundings when the game is safely ensconsed in its case and your playing the other unlicensed, not very comprehensively populated game instead?

Read what that other guy posted about the 10 seconds of magic in his game England v's Germany, its that kind of action that keeps you coming back for more, after the 6th goal sails in for the 6th time in yer 6th match in FIFA, you not kinda feel its time it went to bed and you fired up a REAL game?

I know I do.
