For a long time we were Madrid's bogey team. Marca called us this and I guess we took pride in it.

Bayern is talking too much

Oh?

"Just because you wear cashmere sweaters, doesn't make you a gentleman," bristled the Bayern grandee Beckenbauer. "[Mourinho] is rude and loutish."

Former Pepe, Juanito

Jesus christ that's one of the most brutal things I've ever seen on a football pitch. Didn't Juantino get banned for this effectively making it his last game in Europe?

Yeah, 5 year ban according to one of the many preview articles I read last night.

Alright guys, I'm off to the pub. Hoping for a "typical German" 1-0 win. Of course I would love to see them crush Madrid, but 1-0 seems the most realistic score to hope for that gives us the best chance to advance.

I honestly reckon that Bayern will probably win 2-1 or something along that sort of scoreline.

Oh Hai Thar.

Marcelo staying classy. How that is only a yellow, I don't understand. Very similar to his challenge on Cesc, only without the scissors. Clearly late, never going for the ball, knee high.

That was a stupid tackle by Marcelo, not much more that can be said.

How many "stupid" tackles is the club going to allow?

I don't see Bayer going through, they missed too many open chances. I preditc it is 2-0 for Madrid in the Bernabeu, with Benzema scoring in the 9th Mminute to settle the nerves.

Meh, it's the two iconic players from the era for each respective team.

To be honest, I don't remember the challenge, which is to say I don't think it deserved a red. There were a couple late challenges (actually I thought the worst was by Alonso, but later in that same counter attack Coentrao got booked), but nothing too egregious really. It's football, not ballet.

Alonso got booked there too, iirc.

Marcelo probably should've been sent off but I think it was more untimely than malicious.
