So, I've been vaguely aware of what happened over the past week but I just read what actually happened. From what I read, there's this 22 year old virgin who was bullied for all his life and had no friends or success with women and apparently this (together with possibly some pre-existing conditions) made him want to seek revenge so he stabbed 3 guys and shot a bunch of people, mostly intending to attack women.
So, that sucks. Could someone, perhaps someone who has been following this closely, explain how exactly this relates to the the twitter anti-misogyny movement that's been taking place? I mean, I get that the guy was a mysoginist, and that women suffer and had things gone differently, many more women would have died, but, I mean, men died, too. Sure, there should be some action taken to ensure guys don't treat rejection as an excuse or reasoning to attack women, but surely bullying, mental health concerns and gun control should be taking precedent here? It's not that I don't agree that women suffer from sexism and it's wrong. It just seems strange to me, opportunistic even, to take a misogynist and use him as an excuse to start this movement when more men died than women.
I've also been hearing about women bagging on PUA stuff because of it which I don't get because nothing in the article I read even mentioned it. Could someone brief me? Was he into PUA? 'Cause if he was he failed pretty hard at it.
