The worst PES ever, PES5

Fouls
It's all about timing. PES5 now means you have to make defending into an artform.

You're effectively having a whinge at being so poor at the game. Christ, it's not the CPU's fault you're ****e at it.

Your argument holds about as much water as a bucket with the bottom cut out of it.

Get it?

There are some people who are the exception and can win big consistantly on the hardest level and looks like your one. Just because you can ignore the
faults in the game and still enjoy it doesnt mean the rest have to. The fact is there are loads of un-football things happening in this game. Even the CPU gets fouls against it for innocous things even though people are only complaining when it goes against them. Now in real football it does happen, but not this often.
Now I agree, that guy needs to practice and enjoyment will come.
I also agree with Maynard, and also I dont think anyone should tell anyone else they are crap at it, I look on your such comment with disrespect.

I'm actually annoyed by cpu commiting fouls against me not me doing it against them. Now that I have got a realization of the new tackling system it's usually looks like that, me: 5-7 fouls, cpu 20-25 fouls per 15 minutes match. This really takes some fun away because every time I'm bound to go one on one with keepeer or have a great opening for a promising long ranger, cpu just runs in and pulls your shirt. Not that they ever get well deserved red card for a ''last hope'' tackle. Even yellow is rarely given.

Some thoughts about the game...

Now after playing a lot of matches things i've done
- Keeped the 6 stars dif. but playing @ 15 min instead
of 10 i always did.

- Turned configuration to total manual. I never used manual
in any pes (always the semi-auto with |||| (4)) but It seems
manual works better for me at this point.

Things i like:
----------
- I'm patienly build up my play with a lot of passes (thats why
the 15 min) and love it that in pes5 you just cant make your way
with 100 1-2's or just running straight up. The shoots are really good
and when i find space for a shot i take it no questions asked.
A good shot at target is dangerous in real life football and so is at pes5.

- Pressure the defenders at the opponents half. Now that the players
dont turn around so fast and passes arent so acurrate under pressure
the cpu can & makes mistakes if you smart pressure them.

Things i hate:
------------
- At this point i've cut down the fouls from my behalf big time, but
still i have problem with cpu pushing me around. Either so hard with 1-2
players and they dont receive a yellow, or just a tiny bit push that makes
my player loose just enough balance for them to steal the ball. We know
at the other hand when we even just touch them (without X pressed or anything sometimes) its a foul.
But hey its ok...i just try to move the ball around so they cant touch me,
and also gives much more pleassure when u kick a
cheater's a$$ anyway. lol

- The wide camera. I'm pretty sure the zoom its a bit closer than it
used to be in pes4. Even if that isnt the case i simply want it to be a
bit more wide cause cpu makes some through balls and cant pre-view
it to close down the space and prevent it.

Overall i enjoy the game at this point and i can only expect to
get better after more matches. Weapon of choice atm Villarreal
and latin play :p

hmm.. thanks.. i think i get used to it right now.. anybody know how to cut passes like cpu does?

Timing and anticipation like in real life. Stand in front of the player you think it'll pass to. Slide into the passing lane if you have to. I enjoy defending as much as attacking in PES5. The new tackling physics are excellent.

I made Barca suffer yesterday with my Real Madrid(6*). I beat them 5-1. Is was 5-0 before they got a late consolation goal. My defence was flawless except for that one mistake.

Manual works better for me also - cpu assisting is not very good in this one and often picks the wrong player . If you havent tryed it yet guys MANUAL !

The demo was great.. the actual game isn't.

I actually had a real soccer game ON on TV, and turned PES5 on the PC... just to see if the ball REALLY bounced the way it did in pes5.... It doesn't.

The ball's so damn bouncy... the field is so bumpy. The players are REALLY clumsy. And u know what? It's NOT realistic. It's all OVERDONE. I mean in the worst fields ever, with the worst balls and the worst players, THAT STILL doesn't happen in real-life.

I really luved the demo, I aced it on 5*. And cudn't wait for the actual game. Only to find the flaws I just mentioned. Something bad happened between the demo and the release of the game.

I can only hope that more practise will make me get over this very disturbing ball physics and player-handling of the ball.

Again, it's NOT the way the ball rolls in real life, and NOT the way players handle it.

Anyway, PES5 is still REALLY good.. better than PES4 in many MANY ways... but they overdone the fixes and messed up while doing it...

Couldn't they just turn on a real game and do a small comparison, to know what's not right with the game?

PS - Fifa isn't even an option... it's like a totally other sport than soccer. Maybe Hockey on grass.

This has already been mentioned by others and I thought it was a bunch of :sb9:

This was of course before I had actually played the full version... and sadly, it's true, the demo's better. There was a "feel" to the demo that I don't get from the full version. It's hard to explain.

i find that when i turn fatigue off in league games the game plays much better. Accumilated fatigue is broken in PES5 and makes your players lose skill and play sloppy.
My GK can't even play 4 games in a row with fatigue on. WTF? :nape:

I actually love PES5 on hte PC. But...

1 - As picky as it is, the lack of crowd pisses me off. Going to take a corner and seeing a group of five people sitting there watching Man Utd v Arsenal is a joke. Even a completely static crowd graphic would have been better than empty seats and there is ZERO excuse for pulling this **** on the PC. Konami are lazy bitches. The fact WE9:I will still be the same and yet it takes them four months to release it after doing nothing but change the title screen and box cover is a joke. Konami are obviously working too hard on the other two versions of the game they want to release in Asia before June 2006!

2 - I can play now without giving away too many fouls but the fouls I do give away are pathetic non-fouls most of the time. Minimum contact, if any, leading to PKs (especially when the CPU is losing) and fouls called against you when players actually bump into you is a little lame. They need to toughen the game up again - PES3/WE7:I was perfect for foul calling.

3 - I can dribble pretty well with players such as C. Ronaldo but the dribbling isn't particularly realistic because you can't push the ball to the side of a player and accelerate because of the stupid sidesteps. Blowing past a player with a quick use of the outside of the foot doesn't work much of the time as your player performs a stupid lateral sidestep regardless of what you did with the joypad.

4 - Shots are way too hard. I love the low drive shot, that's an awesome addition but the fact that any player can send the ball lightspeed is unrealistic. Watching Van Nistelrooy knock in goals from 45 yards out with screaming drives isn't a true reflection of real life. Also, is it hust me or are free kicks painfully easy to score now, even on 5*?

5 - The dynamic weather doesn't work in leagues, ML etc. WTF? Is it too hard to randomise the freaking weather in ML??? I also don't see the slippy field happening when it snows. The players seem to play the same way as they did when the field was perfectly dry and it's sunny!

6 - "Who ate all the pies?" Are you freaking kidding me? Of all the statements to have for every freaking team flag in the game? Maybe a little picky but FFS!

7 - Why, oh why can't Konami give you the option to amend league logos in the same way as you can team logos and would it ******* kill them to give us more slots for team badges etc.? Of course not, they could give us 5,000 slots and it wouldn't matter. Instead they give us ******* labrador and bulldog heads!!!

8 - Commentary. Is it too hard to use some kind of intelligence as to when certain phrases are used. i.e. when the game is 5 seconds old we don't need "this has been a hard fought game" or when you're 6-0 up with 2 minutes to go "they can't afford to be complacent" - really? I think I can!

9 - So, professional soccer players can't play five games in a row without being worn the freak out! Really! Are they all smoking 200 cigarettes a day or something or eating cookies and potato chips every hour of the day!!! Players play up to 60 games a season and yes, they may be a little under performing towards the end of a busy schedule but are you trying to tell me that if I play a play in five straight games he'll be worn out within the first half of the 6th game?????? Nobody, but nobody can argue this is remotely realistic for professional players.

10 - This arrow system has to go. Why should Rooney be pissed off for 4 games straight which knocks all his stats down 20 points making him as effective as some of the worst players in the game. Any reason why he's pissed off? Why now does the conditioning thing in ML do more harm than good? You can have all of your first team on green arrows and above and do the player conditioning thing and suddenly have 7 starters with downward facing arrows!!! A joke surely.

11 - Surely Konami must know that leagues in Europe have a certain number of teams in them so why do they insist on making the ML slots so that you have to have at least 4 teams that have no relevance to your chosen league at all. i.e. If I want to play as Man Utd. and want to make a Premiership based group, I have 16 slots in the 1st division and 8 in the 2nd. This makes 24 teams so I have to choose four teams which are nothign to do with the premiership. Why can't we decide how many teams make up 1st and 2nd divisions? It would take ZERO effort for them to do so we could at least have some realism.

12 - Chants. Is there any reason the Dutch league chants resemble a pagan sacrificial ritual for a good five minutes each time? FFS Konami, use anything but repetitive devil-worship sounding noises. Some of the top team chants are awesome this year but many of the chants are so unrealistic it's unfunny.

13 - I've said it before but give us empty team slots other than WE/PES United. Konami must know that we'll do the work to make it realistic if they give us the tools to work with. It's mroe the patchers than Konami who have bought the fans over from FIFA to PES/WE but Konami seem intent on making it as hard as possible every year. The truth is that the game (even PES) is made based upon the Asian market who don't really give a flying **** about realism (look at their games - 90% of them are RPGs). They don't care about the fact that they can make a perfect labrador face rather than a decent Cristiano Ronaldo one. The editor has got better year after year but the fact this game isn't fully customizable is once again, laziness or the fact Konami don't give a ****. The ML will never compare to FIFA's career mode in terms of realism.

Don't give me this "you suck at the game" BS because I'm freaking ace at it. I just won the EPL on 6* with Bolton winning all of my games but 6 with 2 ties. I just don't think you can logistically argue with the points above other than how much they matter to you.

Konami are lazy ****s, period. They need to step it up for the next generation machines.

Last point, I do love the PC game but it's far from perfect.

yes the fatigue...

my players are practically DEAD. I just can't believe it. After 2 games, Ronaldo, with a YELLOW arrow, has his fatigue bar down to ZERO. I thought it was a bug so I reinstalled the game. I just cudn't believe KONAMI wud release the game in THIS shape.

I didn't even uninstall the demo, yet.

Yes if you want to play a more REALISTIC Master League you must edit for all players STAMINA, CONDITION, and CONSISTANCY.........if u put these up real high you wont have to SUB out Ronaldo every other 3 game which is fake as all hell......... I dont play ML as much as i use to cause the fatigue gets me irritated.......and besides LEAGUE mode has all 20 teams and a small cup mode which is fun when you play it. You are also forced to SUB alot due to small injuries and Down Arrows.... Would you play a Reyes down arrow or a Van Persie UP red arrow?????? still alot of choices to make in L Mode

PS- Im actually surprised that konami got the CUP mode right for each league like the premiership is just 1 game and for spain the Copa Del Rey is 2 legs......

right now LEAGUE MODE (with fatigue turned off)>>>>>>>> ML

i like the game, way better then pes4 in every aspect, like passing, shooting, header, slid tackel, Goolkeeper, and the animation, pes5 got it all comparing with the last version, u can scoore some amazing goals from defferent angels that we could never see or scoore in pes4, passing is much better harder in realistic way, is more like in pes3 wich i liked it, and is a bit slow, but thats not enugh, they also are so many problems with this version.

i totally agree with u wolf with all what u point out,
especialy with number 2 the really ****ed the fun of the game up, with ref calling stupit fouls, sometimes u foul the player without pressing any thing, its not that i don't know how to play as am good at playing the game now after playing 280 games, but is the way they program the game, just by runing the player with litle contact he will fall down like a litle bitch, its ok if that happen sometimes but not all the time, especialy not when u run with someone like adriano or henry u don't aspect them to fall so easy :kader: like u sayed in pes3/we7 version, the fouls and the strength of the players where great, i remember back in the days i could accelerate with ronaldo, sometimes the deffenders where falling in the flor cos they couldn't keep up with his pace and his strength, but now u can't battle for the ball anymore, cos if u do, it will be a foul 9 out of 10 of the times,
that would never happen in real football. oh well in every version it was somthing wrong with the game, they fixed something and un fixed something ealse wich was alredy ok, like stip kits + chosing any hair style of the players in edit mode in pes3, they disepirt in pes4 for no reasen, then now they broght it back agen, same with the replay mode, and many many other things gameplay wise, which i don't know where to start with, and i know they doing all this by perposse to keep as buying the game every year hoping they will immprove which they do :) but they always will take out something ealse. thats konamis strategy$$$$$$$$$$$$ the way to make money :nape:

stop crying about how hard this game is. I played one season on 3 star difficulty, finished 5th in Div 2. Second season, 3 stars, 1st place, one defeat all season, 3 goals conceded the entire time (even though I got knocked out in the first round of the cup). Overall best player, top scorer, and top assist all from my team.

Moved up to Div 1 (Man U, Juventus, Liverpool, Chelsea, Roma, etc). 6 stars. 2 wins, 0 losses so far. Tried out exhibition matches (in match mode) with my team vs manchester united on 6 stars - beat them 2-0 in first half.

It's possible. I stopped yelling at the AI for being stupid because I basically control everyone (lots of switching players). Just because you can't win right away doesn't mean you can't ever win.

Oh and uh... fatigue... know when to sub your players out. My original ML team was relatively fresh even in the worst days. It can't be that hard.

I'm not interested (cant see why anyone would be) in your PES5 history. There are 5 difficulty levels in the game, more than enough for all users abilities. People are talking about the things that can affect the enjoyment of the game eg, if you watch a game where there is a foul and free kick given every 2 minutes, this keeps interupting the flow and hence the enjoyment of the game. It happens every game in PES5 wether its the CPU fouls or player controlled foul. So listen to peoples valid points before coming up with your bore. ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz............

nice explenation Hube Astard, we are not complainig about the difficulty of the game, me personaly i have no problem with it, am just saying that the strong player should be strong in the fild, and fight for the ball, rather then falling down, light player like Deco or Recoba ... they are more like it to fall in the flor, and looking for the foul, but not every player falling, otherwise they will be so many fauls in the game which they are now, and is anoying at times, other then that the gameplay overall is a brillant :rockman:

I also find a lot of errors or bad things about the game, even that it is still a reasonabely good game. But honestly, I found it better last year..._

THE ERRORS/BUGS:

1) the difficUlty levels are stupid. Level two is far too easy and I win every game with 4-5-6- goals. But on the other hand, I can´t just play on three stars, because strangely enough it seems to me that playing at three stars this year is FAR more difficult than playing on five or six stars the last year! - Last year I almost won the Serie A and the Master League on six stars, but this year I struggle a lot even on three stars.

This is stupid, because this means than an average player like me don´t have an appropriate level to play on, because two stars is too easy and three stars is too difficult: playing with Juventus, I easily won the Serie A on two stars, but on three stars I only became 12th....IT IS NOT FAIR THAT THERE HAS TO BE SUCH A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TWO AND THREE STARS.

2) Another ridiuculous thing, is that playing against "weak" teams like Livorno, Reggina or Messina is HARDER than plaing against "great" teams like Juventus, Milan og Inter....simply because the weak teams play extremely defensively and do not conceed ANY SPACE....but when I play against Inter, for example, I find it easier, because they just attack stupidly with all their players and conceed a lot of space for the counter attack. But it is not fair that it should be harder to beat Reggina or Cagliari than Milan og Inter...(this season I have beaten Inter, Roma, Lazio and Milan and lost against Messina, Cagliari and Livorno...)

3) The referees are HOPELESS: they give penalties for NOTHING....and you only have to LOOK at your opponents before the ref gives a free kick...FOOTBALL IS A CONTACK SPORT, it is not like basketball, where you can´t touch the opponents. But Konami apparently have a different point of view...

4) The sound is a SCANDAL: when I play with Juventus, for example, I don´t hear ONE SINGLE original Juve-chant. It seems like I am playing in a japonese stadium...no atmosphere at all..just a lot of shouting and shreeming or whistleing, but no original songs og chants. From this point of view, Fifa 06 is a lot better, because they do at least have 3-4 original songs for each team!

5) The opponents AI is TOO HIGH: this makes the game unrealistic, because on three or four stars they hardly ever commit any errors at all, even if I play against Messina, Siena or Ascoli... :Their marking is perfect, they don´t miss anything....they almost seem like Aliens...they can predict every pass and every movement you do, and even if I try one of the smartest driblings, I only get past the defender one time out of five....

6) Sometimes the goalkeeper don´t react when I want him to throw out the ball, but just stand stupidly without doing anything....this error was also present last year, and the year before...so don´t Konami ever learn from their mistakes?

7) It is stupid that the opponents score a lot of goals from free kick, when for me it is impossible to score from them. I have been practising a lot, but have not scored one single goal from free kick (the free kick system in Fifa is a lot better....there at least you can place the ball where you wan´t!)...but the computer scores almost one time out of ten.....not fair!

8) I am disappointed that there are only a very few new teams this season. Why can Fifa or TIF have hundreds of teams, when PROEVO can only have 100-150 teams?

9) In real life it only takes about 80-85 points to win the Italian League. So why is it then, that in PROEVO I need to make at least 95 points to win the title? This is unrealistic and stupid....

10) As said before the opponents AI is unrealisticly high: they hardly ever miss an off-side-move....so every game I tend to run off-side at least ten times....

11) The loading is too slow...especially during a substitution it takes about 15-20 seconds, and during those 15-20 seconds I almost get so angry (of waiting) that I loose interest in the game....

12) The computer, as said before, is too strong: whereever you are on the pitch, you are always sourronded by 4-5 opponent players...iN fact is seems like the computer is playing with 22 players.... :nape:

I think you are wrong....

The problem is that there is too big difference between the levels. So I, for instance, can´t find an appropriate level to play on: on level 2 it is ridiculously easy, and it does´nt help me to play on level 3, because the gap between level 2 and 3 is so HUGE, that even if I win almost every game with 3-4-5-6 goals on level 2, I only win one out of three games on level 3.

So the problem is not that level 4 or 5 are to strong. It is ok, because there are a lot of phenomenal players who deserve e real challange...NO: THE PROBLEM IS THAT LEVEL 3, THAT SHOULD BE A MEDIUM LEVEL, IS IN FACT A VERY HIGH LEVEL AND THAT THE GAP BETWEEN LEVEL 2 AND 3 IS HUGE...RIDICULOUSLY HUGE....
