To try out more free kicks in-game rather than in practise mode, I set up a match with both controllers plugged in and controlling - England v Greece - then took the ball to a good free kick spot near the greek area, picked up the other controller and hacked the england man down, then went back to the other controller to take the free kick. Kept doing this for the whole match(yes, I was bored).
Beckham took many free kicks, all good. But the Greek goalie was there, every time. Tapping them over, catching, everything. He even got across his goal to tip away a shot that was a foot the wrong side of the post......
After 20 mins (in-game) of this, I went up the other end to give Greece a free kick. I stepped up as Tsartas, realized I was on my wrong foot, and tried a real long range curler - shooting left-to-right, left footed, and curling back in again at the far post. Thwack. In it goes. Seaman is nowhere near it. The 2nd free kick I've ever scored in a game.
10 more FKs for Beckham. Misses 5, 5 saved. Back up the other end. Free kick for Tsartas on the right hand side. I'm not really concentrating. I curl it up and over the wall, it dips in at the near post. Seaman might as well have been in Hawaii, no chance at all. OK......
Another 10 shots for Beckham. This time I vary it, give him a crack from all around the box. 10 superlative free kicks, most pretty much unnstoppable in real life. 9 amazing saves. One incredible shot which drops inches wide of the post, and the goalie wouldn't have got there.
Up the other end - into 1st half injury time. Give Tsartas one last try, an awkward angle. He shoots -- Seaman is there this time, but the sheer pace takes the ball past him, it hits the underside of the bar and goes in.
OK......I scored a 1st half hat trick of free kicks. On Level 4. With Greece. Against England. From only 3 attempts. At the other end, Beckham failed to score 30 times. Before you ask, I checked. Seaman, Beckham, Tsartas and the Greek goalie were all on average morale/condition, the arrow pointing to the right.
Any explanations?
