i guess thats the beauty of being an admin. they should give a reason, but usually the reason is obvious

No admins lock those threads because:

1. We've had a million of those threads.
2. They usually turn into bitch fights about which team is better.
3. I can go on and on.

Too bad you have the sense of humor of a frying fan. The Gilardino thread was a mere joke. Its a common mistake people made over and over so i made an over-the-top, light-hearted thread to make people realize that. Take a look at that thread... you're the only one b*tching. Not only did you b*tch about it in the thread but you go ahead and make this thread and mention it yet again. If you don't care, don't respond.

And we mods don't need to explain every action to you guys. A thread like "best team", "best player" etc leads to nothing but jaundiced-eyed comments and nothing really comes of it. Thats pretty obvious to most but apparently you need an explanation for everything which I'm not willing to do. We do give reasons when its necessary. Even so its not my job or the job of other mods to report to "tracertong" just because our actions might hurt his feelings.

If we applied your logic then there would never be any football phone in shows and Talksport would not exist.

Okay then so go dig up an old best team or player thread and you'll see that the thread usually gets locked with some yellow cards given out and maybe a red card thrown in the mix.

The man has spoken, and that should eb the end of that. Use your common sense and listen to what the man said. IceBlu is 100% right so just leave it at that.

I have to say, I think it is the responsibility of all moderators to make the reasons for thread closures/deletions clear to the members, but as to what is closed, I trust their judgement implicitly and have very rarely seen any thread closed that shouldn't be.

i kind of agree to be honest, while it's clear to most of us who've been here for more than a month or have amassed more than 500 posts, i think to some of the so called "noobs" its a tad harder to know if they've done something wrong.

"noobs" join every day ... imagine explaining things to everyone... just not possible. And we all know that no one reads stickies and they make the forum look ugleh. So thats out of the question.. what does that leave us with ?
