I got rid of my ti4200 for a radeon 9600pro,I definately get better performance with the radeon.+ it's a direct9 card,not sure the ti4200 is.

I agree with Sharkman, I have the same and have no problems.
I run Directx 9.1 with TI 4200

Be careful with the ti4200's.

The Gainward model have serious problems with whats known as PSOD ! Pink Screen Of Death.

Just like my one :(

Radeon 9600 Pro for sure, I own a Geforce 4 Ti4200, and it is a pretty good card, but its 2 years old technology, not only is a Radeon 9600 pro much faster, but it also supports DX9 instructions, you would be getting way more bang-for-your-buck if you got the Radeon.

You could even try the new 9600XT.
My ti4200 is gone belly up(almost) and I'm getting a new Sapphire 9600xt.

I think it ships with HL2 (well you get a coupon for it for when it eventually comes out).

Yea get the 9600 pro thats what i got and its perfect:D Also you get HL2 coupon so its a great buy:rockman: :hump:

don't get 9600 pro from powercolor (or something like that). It's not realy 9600 pro but 9600. Very low performance. So check before buying.
I have ti4200 and play games with high details but it's not dx9 card, so go for ati.
But i notice on games forums that most people that complain about problems in games are ati users. Even the store where i buy all my components, the owner is always complaining about ati, he says that ati are the best cards but at the same time he recommends nvidia because almost all people that buy ati complain that have problems. And he says people who buy nvidia don't complain,so he will stop selling ati cards because he's tired that 8/10 of his clients have problems.

so that ati card is better then? ive used both and the performance and IQ was far better with the 9600 pro
