I don't know whether this is already well known, so i thought i'd share a tip I have for hiring staff that would normally turn you down..
If you get the message "so and so has indicated that it would take a considerable offer to agree terms" then you can not normally sign that member of staff, because even the maximum amount allowed by your board will not be enough.
To get around this, if you are hiring a scout or a coach, change their job to Assistant Manager, and then offer then £100 a week, or something else you KNOW they'll turn down.
When the news item "so and so snubs your club" comes up, click on the staff member's name and then select Approach to Sign. This time, you will have the board's approval to spend up to the amount you can spend for an Assistant Manager, which is normally about 2 or 3 times what you are allowed for a coach and 10 times what you are allowed for a scout.
Now just change the job to Coach or Scout, and the money will stay the same, so if you want you can hire a scout for £20,000 a week (though i wouldn't recommend going that far!)
Hope this is helpful to someone
