looks that fifa 98 and 02 are the favourites here. I didn't play fifa98 since i didnt have a computer or PS in 1998.. but I played all the fifas, euros and WCs since fifa99. In fifa 99, 2000, euro 2000 you couldn't score from outside the box. That was the only annoying thing and was very unrealistic. Fifa 2001 was a great improvement though. The shot power could be altered for the first time and we could finally easily score from a free kick. Fifa 2002 and WC2002 were even better. The pass, lob, shot power could be altered and swerving shots/passes/lobs were possible and you could chose the direction to swerve the ball. That was a wonderful option and I wonder why it is not possible for the recent FIFAs. in the recent fifas the ball only swerve "automatically" and you have no control how to swerve the ball (except freekicks). I downloaded the FIFA 06 demo, played 2 minutes then uninstalled it straightaway coz its the worst sh!t I've ever played.. shame EA sports for this game. All I can say is that PES>FIFA now and everyone would be switching to PES if FIFA continues so.

Anyways here's my first 3:

WC2002 (the best except for headers which were unrealistic)
Fifa 2002
FIFA 2003

2002 was FIFA's best year IMO.

Worst EA games
EURO 2000 :nape:
FIFA 2006 (N)
FIFA 2000

Elo Ratings
1. FIFA RTWC '98. Very classic game, with all participating NTs in it. When could EA Sports bring it back like this again ? 2006 ? 2010 ? :(

2. FIFA 2006. Very improvement the gameplay so far. (Y)

3. FIFA 2005.

My Thoughts

Fifa 98 - First Fifa game to have an editor, only fifa game to have national selection, could qualify for the world cup with any country from Fifa. This is what made this game. The gameplay was also good for its time, overall one of the greatest, innovative football games.

Fifa 96 - First game to feature transfers, custom teams, players etc. The gameplay was not very good but it was fun for the megadrive. Spent a lot of hours on this game.

Fifa 99 - One of the most fluid games i have ever played, i think even more fluid than pro evo of what i can remember. The gameplay was a big development over Fifa 98. However, the exclusion of national teams was disappointing. Also, for the first time european competitions were included and the rest of europe selection which was good. The gameplay was really good. However, the gamemodes amateur and professional were really easy, however world class was almost impossible so the game suffered from a lack of decent cpu level. EA made a mistake not developing on this game's engine and rather changing it completely in the next few installments (especially fifa 2004).

Worst Fifas

4. Fifa 2004 - What the f**K did they do to the gameplay?
3. Fifa 2002 - So disappointed when found out not all national teams
were in it.
2. Fifa 2000 - Nothing new was added to this garbage game except the season mode which sucked anyway. The gameplay was changed and it played like a game of schoolyard football, with all the players chasing after the ball. Also changing the controls from the previous game didnt help. Ontop of that Robbie Williams doing the main song in the soundtrack and it was unbearable .

1. Fifa 97 (PC & 32bit console versions) - This game shouldnt have been released. the gameplay was soooo bad that it was unbelievable. The dribbling was so **** and you could score from anywhere really. The graphics even for its time were horrible and every player had the same evil face. Only good thing about this game was the menus and also John Motson rapping.

1. FIFA 2002 - It has a good blend of quality graphics and gameplay. There was also a creation centre where you could create a new team and new players. The Brazilian League featured more teams and there were more international teams in the game.

2. FIFA 2000 - I like the passing and on this FIFA game, I scored lots of spectacular goals and I just kept on saving them, even on World Class. It was good having the Greek and Turkish leagues in but what I loved most was that it had a Classics League, where you had great teams from the past such as AC Milan 89-90, Ajax 70-73, Brazil 70 and Santos 62-63. If only more FIFA games contained that league. I even managed to create some old sides on FIFA 2002 because it didn't have the great feature that FIFA 2000 had.

3. FIFA 99 - It was a toss-up between this and FIFA 96 but I picked this game. FIFA 96 interested me because it was the first soccer game I played but FIFA 99 at the time it had came out looked like a game that had moved up another level.

I liked the the bonus feature which included eight of the best World Cup finalists of the past. All of them classics but I feel that the squads of the 1958 and 1986 finals should have been included. The ones featured were 1930, 1938, 1950, 1954, 1966, 1970, 1974 and 1982.
