A bit off topic, but how's the situation in Montreal? Is the soccer team there followed a lot?

You bet, they have an average of 11-12 000 per game. They had to bring people near the pitch because the stadium was packed. The Impact are building a new stadium of I think 20-25 000, not sure about the capacity.

Every year Montreal win their division and get to the finals. They should of got the MLS team but the owners didn't want to pay to get in.

Now Toronto are getting all our best players and the A-league/USL will go down the drain. (N)

actually recently Saputo stated that Montreal wants an MLS team by 2010.

But Mark's right, I've lived in Montreal for about 6 years and its TOTALLY different there. Here the Lynx are a joke (about 2/3 of the city probably never even heard of them and nobody cares) <<<They're not successful or a serious club in bringing fans for many reasons , one is that they dont have Saputo's money poured into the club>>>

But in Montreal, The Impact is like the 2nd team after the Canadians and has a great following (most people know who "Greg Sutton" would be if you went to Montreal and I remember when Montreal won the title in 93-94 (around there) and all the kids were talking about it at school and the media.

I think the Lynx will be a perfect rival to propel Canadian football forward (lets face it, its the rivalry that 1) Sells and 2) builds the teams up since no one wants to be outdone by the other).

Thats true. I mean the Raptors are clearly a figment of my imagination and Toronto FC is planning to have 30 people (including players on the pitch) attend their games.

Also University Canadian (American) Football being the most followed and watched Sport in Toronto was only special effects used on TV and false rating news.
- And also the fact that casual and league soccer play in Toronto <kids and adults> completely outnumbers even hockey at shocking rate............is totally false because there are no immigrants in Toronto. (Or Canadians who ever played soccer)

(In case outsiders didnt know: Toronto there are only Leafs fans, Quebecois and rotting corpses.......those are the only types of humans in that city).

Yup : "Hit it right on the nail" is all I can say about GrimSweeper's comment :funny: :rockman:

And we said in 2000 that we wanted a MLS team by 2004 and look at what has happened so don't get your hopes up.

yeah your right. But why isnt Rochester getting an MLS team?

I mean: The market is there, the fans are there, the stadium is there, the team is there........... what's the problem? (Especially since Rochester is a great soccer city)

The money is the problem, our owner, Frank Duross, is wealthy fro USL standards, but not MLS. We're never going to get an expansion team most likely if a team falls through and they can relocate here, which there seems to be a rumor of each year. The only way I can see us getting an expansion team is if Rochestarian, Tom Golisano, invests in them. He owns the Buffalo Sabres and is making tons of money off of them this season with their success. I don't know why he doesn't invest in the Rhinos, it would be a great investment.

Also President of TFC announced today that they've sold 5300 so far. (that's gotta be a record for a brand new team) :rockman:

Ok how much does the stadium hold and how much are they actually expecting to get per game. Also I heard that only like 2 teams in the MLS are actually getting a profti. I hope thats not true.

Its true , but not for long. It's all on wikipedia. Aparently in only a few years (not much like 2-3), the MLS teams will be finally making profit (that will be a milestone for North American football really).

The teams are just sort of "fighting it through" at the moment. (i remember reading it there a few months back.........check it out if you want.)

Toronto will have 20,000 stadium and expect around that number for each game. (I was actually shocked, but I expected that all the cities in all sports always sell out.
Cause here it's like no surprise to hear : "Oh the Leafs/Raptors sold out" . Toronto is big on sports.

Like even the raps were completely sold out last season even if they had a record of 30-70 (it was pretty bad). While I remember Vancouver Grizzlies average was like 10,000 per year even when they did well.
