deisler i think u are so wrong in judging del piero like that. to me del piero will always be better than totti. del piero has done more for football in italy than that complaining son of a bitch. now seriously del piero has hit form we havent seen in a long time. the way he celebrates goals its as if he feels young and motivated. you can not possibly say that del piero can not replace totti in germany. so ignoring a player that once could have even been better than baggio if he didnt get injured is ridiculous. think before you post such degrading stuff.

You got the story all wrong there buddy, it was Baggio that was suffering the fact that DP was always prefered over him even though Baggio was in a absolutelly roll. He did fine at Breschia and only couse DP was playin Juve made the first team. Remember 1998 Alex was totall garbage and Roby saved Cesare Maldinis' posterior in the last game against Bulgaria.
Don't get me wrong, Alex is one of my favorites too but he is not Totti. The reason Francesco complains a lot is that he is targeted in a more regular basis that Alex is. Tottti alone carries Roma meanwhile Alex is sorrounded by stars. I could put Nedved in the same level as Totti couse they also have the same position in the field.
The only thing Alex is better than Totti is his fighting spirit, gotta love the guy for that he is a warrior.

I feel bad for players who sustain these kinds of injuries but if it had to happen to anybody I think it's awesome that it happened to Totti. I truly hope he is out of the world cup. I don't say that because I think it will make Italy weaker, I say it because the guy is a big bag of douche.

On a less significative note random people from Italy feel the sorrow of loosing one of the countrys brightiest stars for quite a bit of time. People like Galliani ( Forza Fancesco, we are waiting for you) , Di Canio ( I feel sad that we will play the derby without him will not be the same, he is part of Rome ) or even people like Capello ( He should come back fast for Roma and Italy. ) . Yeah they all agree on the fact that without Totti Italy and the Seria A are poorer. But who cares right? The people that matter are here in soccergaming.

We never played Bulgaria in 98, moron, that was the 94 semi-final, and Cesare Maldini wasn't even the coach in 94. Get your facts straight.

Ooooh, good argument! I think it was pretty clear that we thought ourselves the most important people in the world. You got us back on track though by showing us that it's really the Italians who are.

This forum has members from all over the world and thus we have opinions from all over the world. The truth is that outside of Italy many (maybe most) people don't like Totti and will not miss him in the World Cup.

Great player, but I challenge anyone to prove to me how he has as of yet done more for football than Del Piero. This guy is without doubt a fantastic player, but he's equally a true asshole. Good for Italy IMO that this happened. I read that Lippi would pretty much base the whole team around him; NEVER GOOD, unless you're talking about Maradona or Pele. I don't really see how Italy will really miss him THAT much considering the quality they have going forward.
