Utd has serious back problems. the Neville brothers and Silvestre in particular. I think Silvestre is over-rated. I've watched him too many times and he is just not consistant. Most of the times he is just caught out of position, he knows there is a man behind him, but instead of drawing closer to the guy, he lets the ball fly over his head and then he turns around and looks like a deer caught in headlights, watching the attacker take a crack at goal. What the heck? Stam and Wes Brown are great defenders (Stam especially) but they need some support, they can't do it alone.
As for Sir Alex. Why did he bench Stam in the last game? was this part of his rotation system thing? Cos it sure ain't working, he better play his best always. (until they burn out hehee).
The formation they used against Blackburn was so useless. 5 midfielders and one forward, that is why they couldnt' get anything done. I saw passes from Beckham to Scholes to Veron to Keane, all of them were within 20 yards of each other as if this was training. Giggs was the only one that attempted to spread the defence, the rest were just midfield campers. I would have prefered for Sir alex to pull Scholes right up with Van Nistelrooy. How would a defence like that, two goal mouth terrors and then put veron on top for any garbage that comes back to send it back in (his specialty) and tell beckham that if he get's anywhere near the center circle, he is going to sit on the bench. He is not a center midfielder, for one thing he has only one foot. Don't get me wrong, i love beckhams play, but if he stays on the wing and dishes those killer crosses that he does oh too well, he will benefit the team alot. And tell Giggs to keep on doing what he was doing.
Man utd made it easy for the defence. Everyone knows that Van Nistelrooy is a terror so they are keeping an eye out for him, and so long as he is the only one up there, whoever is defending utd can be content.
