Training promising players??

I am new to the Master League and I just acquired a 'promising' player. How can I in the best possible way turn him into a new Zidane??

For how long can I keep training him?

What determines the amount of skill points available to train him?

Glad I found this in the search!!!

I picked up a player called Ibsen who is a CF. The way that the points seem to become available to improve them is by playing them as often as possible. Playing him for a whole game gave me about 30 points, more if he scored or assisted (35-40). You seem to get less if the team lose though. In a friendly against Juventus at the start of my 2nd season he scored 2 and set up the other in a 3-2 win and I got over 50 points, this may have been due to the goals or could be because Juventus were in the first division.

I picked him up at about game 7 of my 1st season and was able to train hime until about 11 or 12 games into the 2nd season (in Div 2). The end result is a player who is my top scorer but is severely lacking in some attributes (passing, heading, FK Acc etc) with no way of improving.

It may have been better to sign him at the start of the season in one of the divisions where you play more games in a "year" - he only got a few games in Div 3 and I was knocked out first round in the Tiny Cup. But without a few enhancments he may struggle in the higher divisions, so you can't play/score with him as much and don't get as many points.

Anyone know about getting points for midfielders, defenders or goalies?

i know, my guy sucks, but i'm not gonna sell him cuz he doesnt earn that much.

And arent promising players supposed to be young, mine is 30 years old. Did he discover soccer late in life, or maybe hes just now getting his big break.

Mine is 18(CF).When I got him he was crap but with the four pre-season games and the whole Div 3 season he improved enough for Division 2 football.:D ;)

I never knew that you get more points for playing them :S

I have had some fairly poor players for "promising talents"

I had a 45 year old at one point!

Its definetly right, as I said I have been playing this guy Byron and then I decided not to play him for one game, he got 3 points :|

When I played him in the first team he was getting about 50 max, hes now got 99 for speed and acceleration :D

I usually play my promising players at right-back so that they play a lot of games but do not have much to do in the game. Mid-way through their development period they should be good enough to play in their natural position for a few games. You must also train one aspect at a time. Start off with pace and acceleration and then build up specialist stats. It works, believe me. I can give you the attributes of one of my attacking midfielders if you want.

Promising players usually appear in the 'Freelance' screen before the start of the second season. Go to the Freelance screen, scroll down and there should be a very cheap player that has a little plant/set of wings in the transfer status box next to his name.

that sounds cool! do i have to sign this player before season or can i play all the time with my standart starting 11! and will there stats get better too????

You can sign these players any time the transfer window is open. If you play with your standard 11 all the time and hardly play the youth player, you won't be able to improve his stats beyond maybe those of a bad player. Play your youth player in as many games as you can - stick him in a position that usually doesn't get much of the ball and he'll rack up the points.

Your other(normal) players will not improve their stats, apart from their teamwork stats - these improve as they play in more games with each other/
