I trust EA Sports, and have faith (isn't it called that?) in their new game. I think I'm going to buy it as soon as it comes out. You probably heard this before, but who feels like me?
Naturally i'll play the demo first, but I feel it'll be good. I remember last year evrybody got the demo 2 weeks before the release and hoped it wasn't the final version and EA would still work on it. They actually had SO much faith in EA, that though they thought the demo sucked big time, they bought the game thinking it would be better, and then came to this forum and cryed out aloud about heir WE and PES being so much better. Having faith in EA is good, but too much makes ppl look like fools! Now, I've faith in this new game, and I think it's going to be a cracker! Hope nobody will write about me being a fool next year ! I think you need to play a game for 2-3 weeks before you explore the whole of it and start loving it/hating it. Take your time.

I just hope the AI will be good so I can enjoy playing with the CPU. In wc 2002, it's either too easy or too difficult.

I agree. When I play world cup on amatuer I win about 5-0 every time, but on pro I cant win. I have never tried world class level.

I think almost the same as you Golfish.

I think this will be a great game, the pass-style is like PES or WE(I've player both games).
I don't know the shoot-style but I belive it'll be nice too.

Judging by the videos the gameplay is much more smooth than before..

I don't want to talk about graphics because that was never a problem for EA.
The key is in the gameplay, I think that we can have the graphics from FIFA RTWC 98 but with a gameplay similar to WE or PES and we will happy. Even if the graphics are not as good as FIFA 2002 (WC 2002, and the upcoming 2003).

But if we want to talk about graphics WE or PES aren't as good as FIFA series.

I see the video and try to imagine that am playing and I like it.

I'd really like that this weekend the demo comes out to test & edit it.

I had absolutely same problem. I've won the world cup with pro only four times. So i uninstalled my WC, coz it sucked. It was too hard.

Talking about graphics, I think EA just HAD to improve them, 'cause as I said before, they drastically improved them evry year, and if they hadn't done it this year too, people would have been terribly disappointed. That's the eyecandy as many of you call it.
This is going to be a major problem for the next year version. This year they came so close to perfection, that next year we'll have only smaller improvements, and then we'll get all those persons saying: "Ohh, but the graphics suck! They look like the old Fifa 2003! EA didn't make anything different this year" and so on. That's why people are going to expect even much better gameplay and realism than Fifa 2003. Probably Fifa 2004 will then be a big dud!

I dont understand you, Goldfish, expressed on a scale from 1 to 10 I think Graphics are 9 and Gameplay 5.
So what is more needed? To make that 9 a 9.5 or to try to make that gameplay at least a 6 or 7?

In other words, there is absolutely no need to improve the graphics again.... just gameplay!

i totally agree with u guys about the wc..it so difficult to control a player at pro level and world class...
about fifa2003 looks very good...the gameplay seems very good and a lot improved...
i hope that will be a 180% turning at ea's fifa games...
i doubt that the demo is gonna released this weekend...but if it is....hell yeahhh

Perhaps they can start to take advantage of some of the features found on modern day 3dcards.. for example pixel shaders & implement bumpmapping ect.

Hopefully that is an avenue EA will take as more n more games r taking advantage of the technology now available to em.

Games like motogp, gp4 ect look stunning as they use the new technology.. if fifa were to use it it would be amazing

motogp uses motion blur used in TV/movies for a looooooong time
I think fifa 2003 uses some bumpmaps on jerseys unless the screens are really renders.

I think you need to play a game for 2-3 weeks before you explore the whole of it and start loving it/hating it. Take your time.

That is funny. If you are going to buy the game when it comes out, what is the point of feeling out the demo?

Ye the motion blur feature is cool.. the road ect is bumpmapped to the point where it looks so realistic its virtually real.. visually that game is a masterpiece IMO

I downloaded Ultima 2003 Patch and I played with Pro in WC2002. I was ofcourse Inter Milan, I used the Group Manager and I was in a group with Lyon, Ajax, and Barca. Well I played Barca and I beat them 3-1, then I beat Ajax 4-0, but in my last game I got narrowly beaten by Lyon, 5-4! So far I have actually enjoyed FIFA and I am gonna keep playing it because it was challenging, not to easy, not to hard. My first knock out match was vs. PSG, I spanked them 10-4!!!! Oh well, it was competitive anywayz, next I have to take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Quarters.... well I guess I just wanted to say what I was doing

That's right. That is what I'm trying to say. That's how we two feel it, for the next year's version I'm expecting greater gameplay and almost same graphics, but for those who got used to BIG changes in graphics, those of fifa 2003 won't be good enough for 2004. If we rate 99-2, 2000-4, 2001-6, 2002-7.5 and now 2003-9, people will expect 2004 to be like 11 or 12. Since the scale goes to 10, their expectations won't be covered, and they will be disappointed. Gameplay can always be improved. Since they seem to have found the right technology to make great kits, you don't expect them to work on that anymore, focusing on the gameplay problem instead. That's why graphics loving people is going to be disappointed about the graphics, that's easy.

I don't trust EA at all...even though i've probably bought like 15 different EA games...

Nba live 2001 and fifa 2002 were by far the worst ever, in terms of date released, and technology available...but both made good with their next release (live 2002, and world cup 2002...i luv'd both...althought wc 2002 still didn't have everything like pes or we6).

But what I do trust, is what I see.

And the vids so far show that fifa 2003 is the best in the series...so far.

Well i think that FIFA 2000 was the worst ever fifa in history... FIFA 2002 was ok. let's just hope FIFA 2003 is better than PES2

i seriously doubt fifa 2003 can be better than PES2, its really hard to take such a huge leap in terms of gameplay in just one year, and lets face it there are a lot of things that needed to be changed. The graphics will always continue to improve, the technology is there they just dont take full advantage of it because not everyone has that kind of money, and they would lose money if they push the hardware too much and people wouldnt be able to run it.

download fifa fx gameplay patch from www.fifafx.de thats the best gameplay patch . it becos of that patch that i am playing wc 2002 ......but for now ultima 2003
