All right arkadaslar, i'm almost afraid to say anything but i'll try to stay as non-bias as possible. But I feel that I should give my 2 cent preview on the derby for this weekend. The most important game of the year for both teams, specifically Fenerbahce. My favorite team who has been extremely poor in the derby's this season; and our counterparts, Galatasaray, who have won many derby's this year can be considered a very important match for them as well. For one, they can beat Fenerbahce and have the chance of winning the championship, considering Fenerbahce loses their last game to Konya and Galatasaray wins their last game. Some may view this scenario, a little farfetched. I for one don't. Fenerbahce's constant derby misery this season has just left a bitter taste in my mouth and is leaving me somewhat dissatisfied for a potential 16th title. But as a wise good friend told me "Fenerbahce always somehow dissapoints" ah, sad but so very true. According to Fanatik, Fenerbahce is coming out with a 2 striker system: Anelka and Nobre up front. Which, is good and bad. Daum has shown me that this year he has problems performing under pressure, but I believe this system is more beneficial than playing him on the wing. He has the pace and the finishing touch, I think the only instruction you have to give that guy is to shoot. He maybe has shot the ball 3 or 4 times since he has come to Fenerbahce, and considering he is a forward, that's sad. Galatasaray will probably stick with their classic but effective striking duo of Hakan and Necati ( i could be wrong because i haven't seen a potential lineup). These two are dangerous, for any defense in this league. Fenerbahce's weak defense will have problems covering these players, particularly if they keep switching sides. For some reason, i've noticed, Fenerbahce's defense gets extremely confused when the forwards switch sides, it's like the challange is far greater than anything, when it's quite simple. But once again, a fans point of view, everything looks easy because we have that angle of the game that gives us a better vision of the game.
I believe that Galatasaray and Besiktas have the strongest counter attacks in the league when they use it. Fenerbahce has to be particularly careful with these, because they tend to bring up at least 8-9 players once they are attacking heavily which leaves a very prone defense, to an already weak defense. Judging from the Cup game, I don't know what Galatasaray could've done better, they executed almost every shot on net, executed the counter attack and particularly Mondragon was fantastic. I think Galatasaray should stick with the same system for this game this weekend, and Mondragon has to be particularly on his game once again because we cannot forget the wasted chances from Fenerbahce's heavy attack in the cup game.
Last of all, i just want to wish the best of luck to both teams, and hopefully we will witness a very good game.
