Tutoring Players.

Im playing Perth Glory atm (i'll end up at Leeds soon enough...sittin 20th in the table in my game...art imitating life :boohoo: )

Anywhooo, ive checked through my entire squad, admitadly its not that big, only 20 players because of the crappy regulations in Australia.

My question revolves around the fact that there is not one player who is able to tutor another...so what makes it possible?

I mean i have veteran strikers like Bobby Despotovski who i'd like to tutor my young signing Labinot Haliti, they are both strikers but Bob cant tutor him...the "linked players" section is unable to be activated for anyone in my team...is this normal? does anyone else have this problem?

Could it be that Glory have no youth team? can you only tutor youth players? i guess it would make sense...have i just answered my own question? possibly...

I think you can tutor young players only.

Few criteria after some hits and misses...

a) make sure the tutor is experienced at the highest level. No point in having someone who is not experienced themselves trying to teach someone. He needs to be a player at his prime or very best.

b) make sure the learner is young and eager. Also make sure he is not really young and raw - I think the ideal age would be 18-22.

c) make sure the tutor is a popular member of the squad. This is really important...

d) make sure the two players have similar qualities. i.e - a strong defender, a creative midfielder, a pacey striker etc... There is no point in Brian McBride trying to tutor Collins John for example.

Hit and miss tbh.

But its worth giving it a go.

I signed Teddy Sheringham just to tutor one of my young players, I wasn't able to do it, perhaps because he was a new signing.

Hmmm. Well I got Benny McCarthy to tutor a young kid at Rovers.

And he had only been there for about 4 months.

I think you need to satisfy criteria 'd' for this to happen. The young kid in question might be nothing like Sheringham.

I've got Scholes tutoring Cardenas, who in his profile says "similar player to Scholes". Also got Evra tutoring a young Wing Back who plays a very similar game to Evra. Hopefully when Lee Martin comes back from his loan at Rangers i'll have Giggs tutoring him.

me too, it's a pity because Walcott effectively is Thierry Henry Mark 2.
Just like Adebayor is a younger version of Kanu...who can actually head the ball.

I love the tutoring system, however after half a season of messing around with it I am yet to notice any real differences in the players who have been tutored?

I had Sami Hyypia tutoring Miki Roque for a long time and they both got on really well and it said that Roque had learned a lot from Hyypia, however I haven't noticed a big difference in his play or his stats.

Carragher is tutoring Paletta, but Paletta said soemthing about him thinking he won't learn much from Carra, despite them being pretty much the same in the style of play.

Also, I got Luis Garcia to tutor Nabil El Zhar, which is a little random, but I want to see the outcome of it.

In a couple of seasons at Sydney FC I'm finding A-League isn't very tutor-friendly. If they don't get anything from Corica, Rudan etc it really isn't happening.

BTW A-League is MUCH better this year

the players being tutored have to have a great potential (which is rare to come by) to become as good or even close to the "world class" players tutoring them, that would probably be the first thing you need to look for in the youngster.

I am playing with United too.
When Bardsley come back, I will have Gary to tutor him.
And also Pique, he is going to learn from Rio!

what a shame that Lee Martin is a left only player...I changed him back to left-footed!

is that the players mainly learn their tutors' preferred moves?
