U.S. could play World Cup qualifier with 'replacement players'

http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/soccer/20041214-9999-1s14soccer.html
The U.S. National Soccer Team Players Association – which theoretically includes any male player who has ever donned a U.S. jersey – recently refused to attend a two-week December training camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson.
Great.
The federation responded by scrapping plans for a pair of qualifying tuneups in January against South Korea and Sweden just days before the games were to be formally announced.
Fantastic.
"If no collective bargaining is reached by Feb. 1, 2005, the USSF will pursue other options for the Feb. 9 World Cup qualifier. The USSF is entitled to use replacement players or other teams as it may elect. Such action is not unlawful and is precisely the kind of action that Congress has reserved to employers to allow them to press their position in the collective bargaining process, just as the Players Association has the right to strike (a right which the USSF believes they have already exercised)."

So why is Freddy Adu over here we just had dinner last night and I had to take him to the mall yesterday cuz he was afraid that people would recognize him and bugg him. A US Soccer team is at training camp right now at the HDC but it is not the old farts, they are some youngsters like Adu's age. (H)

what team wouldnt put "replacement players" in the qualifiers ... if u have weak teams like CONCACAF teams ... for USA and Mexico is very easy going to a World Cup ... playing with teams like trinidad and tobago, and another islands i dont remember :p ... why dont u guys come to play with SA teams ... nice challenge ;)

You know, playing in T&T, Panama, Jamaica ect. is harder than people relize, alot harder.

Sure they're easy when they come to play you, but you never see "big national teams" scheduling matches at their place. There's a reason for that.

Eh... different continents, different confederations...

And I don't know about Mexico but the US has a pretty good recent record vs. South American opposition.

yeah Bobby .. i know that ... :p

but i agree with RonaldinhoBR10 ... if USA would play in SA, sure will have many, many problems ... SA qualifiers have become more hard this days ... Brazil and Argentina are BIG teams ... and the other 8 teams are strong, some harder than anothers ... but in the end there are no easy teams to beat ...
