UCL Group A: Barcelona vs Bremen [P+R]

Hendrik

Team Captain
Congrats to Barca, Bremen didn't stand a chance today.

It's probably better for our coefficient points so Bremen better start a solid Uefa Cup campaign now.

Wiese is the next Kahn. :rockman:

I knew that the 1st leg draw to Barca would come back to haunt Bremen. But they showed a lot of heart today and throughout all their matches, a team capable of beating Chelsea and almost doing the same to Barca deserves to be still playing in the CL but it was going to be tough for whoever bowed out of this group. I think there would've been a big sigh of relief from all the teams competing in the UEFA cup because it means they'll get to avoid Barcelona, but Bremen should be able to do very well there also. Barca should've had a much bigger lead going into the break but that was some clever thinking from Ronnie with the freekick goal.

1st goal
2nd goal

I hope nobody had to endure Tommy Smyth's commentary today like I did.

Congrats to Barca. I think every team vying for the title in La Liga breathed a sigh of relief. If Barca didn't have the CL to worry about the title would be no contest.

Motta is the biggest footballing cheat and I thought Carvalliho likes to push people and tug shirts while the ref is not looking but this guy has been at it since match day 3. I guess fucking Barca go through the battle between good and evil continues. Barca being evil that is.

Okay to clarify... was gudjohnsen offside or not? I thought he was... but didnt the same thing happen in Euro 2004 when RvN scored against the Czechs? Did the rule change since then or were both offside anyway. I think he should clearly be offside since he got an unfair advantage. Can anyone clear this up?

Technically he wasn't interfering in the original play, stage 1 or some ****. It's f*cking confusing, nobody knows what's going on.

Only the very first action is considered, which was Ronaldinho's pass to Giuly, who was onside. Guddy wasn't involved in that first action but was in the second, when he wasn't offside anymore. I've seen many refs calling offside in that kind of situation though.. I guess it all depends on the ref's mood.

The only man more painful to listen to is George Bush.....

Regardless, we're through and next time we're out there, hopefully we'll have a full strength squad to choose from. Does anyone know if any team has won both the league and champions league twice in two years?

Also, when is the draw for the next round?

REAL MADRID DID THAT (WINNING BOTH LA LIGA AND EUROPEAN CUP) 5 TIMES IN A ROW. (H)

if anyone watched Rivaldo v AC Milan in the Champions League some years ago a really old skool match, you would know what Ronaldinho did was not all that, Rivaldo scored 2 free kicks one under the wall, the next free kick they didn't jump because they where afraid he might pop the ball under the wall so he put it over the wall and scored. that was a wonderful match so many goals not sure anyone here remembers tho.
